3rd week of August; school starts!

Nyles and Carter started school on Monday, August 19th.  Nyles is now officially in middle school, at Mount Jordan Middle School, and Carter is in 2nd grade at Altara Elementary School.  Nyles' school starts at 7:30am, so we are getting up at 6:30am to get him to school, plus his school is further away, so there is a longer travel time (we're considering having him ride the train).  Carter's school starts at 8:30am.  Steve has been taking Nyles to school, then coming back to pick up/drop off Carter to his school.  Hudson didn't start school until the following Monday, the 26th.

This will be Carter's 2nd year of Dual Immersion in Spanish.  He was only a little excited!

While we were camping over the weekend, Hudson pooped in the camper potty.  Then when we got home, he pooped again!  He's making great progress finally on pooping in the potty!  We'd tried EVERYTHING to get him to poop in the potty, but as you know, you can't make them ;)  He's done great at peeing in the potty and staying dry both during the day and through the night, but he's refused to poop in the potty this past year.  We kept telling him that he's turning 4 soon and he needs to be able to poop in the potty.  Well.....he's FINALLY doing it!!!  We couldn't be more excited and happy for him to finally get it!  Just in time for back to school and his 4th birthday!

Monday night, August 19th, we went to Diane/LuDean's to celebrate both Nyles birthday (on the 12th) and Hudson's birthday (on the 20th).  They both wanted pizza for dinner, so we picked some up.  Joann/Dave came as well to celebrate w/ us.  After dinner they opened their presents.  Thanks everyone for coming and for the thoughtful gifts!

Diane then had a super fun game to play getting prizes.

Hudson got a gift card to McDonalds (his favorite).  He was so excited to have his own "money" for McDonalds!  It was a really fun game.  Thanks Diane!!!

We then sang Happy Birthday to them both.

Hudson and Carter got a dragon egg as another prize, so they went outside and broke them open.

Tuesday night, Steve went up w/ Nyles to Snowbird Ski Resort up Little Cottonwood Canyon, for a combined YM and YM activity.  They got to ride the gondola and go a little hike.  They had a great time and the views were amazing they said!

While they were gone, Carter, Hudson and I picked some pears from our tree.  We only picked some of them, but we definitely have a LOT this year.  Steve pruned it last year to be less tall (though we'll have to do it again this year), but the pears are definitely getting bigger, which is awesome!  It should also help to make them sweeter!

Steve and Nyles cut down a few more trees for firewood for us and to sell, while scouting for where they can hunt elk in a few weeks.

Sunday evening we went to Pauline's house to celebrate her birthday, along w/ Nyles and Hudson (August birthdays).  Rose make the cake and we sang to them!  It was great to get together and visit!
