Our watermelon is growing, pretty "wild flowers" also growing we planted from seeds, our pumpkin not doing so great (we found our there are bugs eating it), and Hudson getting a ride w/ Nyles.
Hudson getting in our drawer w/ toys/books for the kids. He found the Friend magazine.
Baby Hudson turned 11 months old on the 20th. He has progressed so much this past month. He has another tooth in the bottom now, so 6 total (4 up top and 2 on bottom), he's able to get around now and can go from sitting to his belly, he's trying lots of new foods and doesn't want us to feed him purees, he prefers finger food and feeding himself. He's happy and loves everyone. He's finding his vocal chords and likes to use them. He loves the water and outdoors like this brothers and dad. We're so thankful to have him in our family and love him so much
We planted another Honey Locust Shademaster tree on the South side of the yard. It's really hot on that side so we want to get more shade between our house and Karolen's house. It is a big tree (as big if not a little taller than the last 4 we planted 2 years ago).
The boys in the hole for the tree, then playing in the fine sand that came out of the hole.
Hudson thought it was fun to eat the sand and rocks. Silly boy ;)
The boys got the little tent out and put all their stuffed animals and lots of blankets in it.
Nyles cut down the bamboo sticks that were giving support to our other Honey Locust trees.
The new tree looks great! Piper snuggling next to all the blankets and stuffed animals.
The boys doing their marital arts class at a park.
Cute boys! Another pretty "wild flower" growing.
Saturday we went up to Rockport Reservoir to go kayaking. It was quite muddy since the water levels are so low, but we still had a good time. Hudson took a nap in his car-seat shortly after we got there. We even saw wild turkeys as we were pulling into the reservoir.
Hudson sharing my watermelon for lunch. Steve out on the boat trying out his "new" motor (was from his grandpa). Steve w/ Hudson, Nyles and Carter on the kayak, and Piper on my kayak.
Steve back on the big boat w/ Carter, Hudson and Piper. Nyles and I went out further on our kayaks while Steve went back and forth in the big boat. It was great once we were on the water. So much fun!
All 3 boys fell asleep on the way home.
Beautiful Rose of Sharon in bloom in the back yard, and another "wild flower." After we got home from kayaking, we changed then went over and had dinner w/ LuDean and Diane for the 24th of July.
On Sunday, we went up to Melanie/Brandon's place in Midway for dinner. Their son Chandler came home this week, a month early from his mission. He found out he has Type 1 Diabetes this week and his Mission President wanted him to go home. He was released the day after he got home and has been to Dr.'s to help him learn to regulate his glucose. Ironically it was his 20th birthday on Sunday, so we sang him Happy Birthday as well as welcomed him home.
Steve being silly, trying to help Phill chop up some bacon for baked potatoes. Joann playing with baby Hudson. We have smoke coming in from Oregon and California, which makes the sun look red.
Here are some highlights from the 2nd week of July.
Nyles and Carter building a fort w/ the neighbor boys Jayson and Dalan Brown. It was so hot outside Carter melted off the slide and Hudson squashed Nyles, haha ;)
Steve took the boys and Nyles' friend from school (Lincoln) to Thanksgiving Point (Museum of Ancient Life) They had a great time.
We went to a park after grabbing a bite to eat. Cute Hudson playing the drums w/ my straw and lid. Nyles and Carter swinging on a tire swing.
Carter and Nyles w/ a Home Depot project. Baby Hudson hiding behind the curtains. Steve and the boys loaded up and ready to go camping up in the Uintas Thursday night.
Steve went and picked up Rob, then they headed up. They met Phill and Conor in Kamas, then continued up to Trial Lake. No one is allowed camp fires right now (except in designated spots) due to the dry conditions, so they used glow sticks instead.
They made some popcorn, yumm. Steve warming up w/ a blanket.
Dave came up in the morning and they went over to Trial Lake to go fishing.
More fishing. Carter caught a fish all by himself, then they ate it for lunch.
They went and explored other lakes as well.
Steve, Carter, Phill, Conor, Dave, Nyles and Rob in the hole.
Great pics of the boys by Mt. Baldy.
It rained on them most of the afternoon.
Steve took a picture of some pretty mountain flowers for me (thank honey!).
Getting lunch back at the campsite, cooking the fish.
Dinner time. Carter hanging out in his hammock.
Phill caught a dead fish. Pretty sunset.
They boys got a little cold from the rain all afternoon, so Steve took them for a drive w/ the heater on to warm up. Carter fell asleep of course.
They got back by noon on Saturday.
After unloading and cleaning up, we headed to the pool to cool off since it was so hot!
Our Rose of Sharon are blooming and other flowers, which I love!
Hudson tried the trampoline while I threw the ball for Piper.
On Sunday we went over to have dinner w/ LuDean, Diane, Dave and Joann. Hudson loved playing w/ LuDean's birthday balloon from the week before. He is good at getting tangled up in chords as well. We bought the boys some Perler beads, and they have been busy making things. We also played a quick game of Pencil Nose while at LuDean's.
Carter w/ his Pokémon pokeball he made out of Perler beads.
Piper hiding under my blanket as the fireworks went off during Draper Days.
Hudson trying a sucker for the first time on the way home from LuDean/Diane's. I think it's safe to say he really liked it. It kept him really quite almost the whole way home.
The boys playing at Scheels. Dave and Joann came over for dinner Tuesday night. Since we missed the Dutch Oven cobbler on Sunday night w/ the family (had to get home to get Hudson to bed), Dave was nice enough to come make it for us. We had peach cobbler, yumm!
Beautiful Calla Lily in bloom and another Daisy. Hudson loves to wiggle over to Piper.
Celebrating LuDean's 95th birthday! Melanie holding baby Hudson. Miles and Nyles McGrath.
Cute baby Hudson trying peanut butter. Piper just taking a nap w/ balloons around her from the party.
Nyles and Carter playing w/ the balloons the next day.
Steve took the boys to the Butterfly Biosphere. They got to hold many of them.
Pretty flower in the biosphere and we have a watermelon growing!
Friday evening after work, we went swimming. We first went to Draper Pool, but the chlorine levels were off, so the outside pool was closed. So we went over to Alta Canyon, but ironically it was closed too, for another hour. We finally we went over to Dimple Dell, and thankfully they were open. It's only an inside pool, but it was still super fun. It wasn't really busy so that was great!
Saturday we went to the Zoo w/ Dave and Joann. It was a lot of fun!
Nyles got a little exhausted from the heat, but other than that we had a great time. Thanks for taking us!
Nyles pulling Hudson on a blanket. The boys making a 4x4 Jeep from Lowes'
Sunday evening we went over to Temple Quarry Trail for a minute. It was super hot, but it was still nice to get out. The river was completely dry. We saw a lizard too.
So dry, people made a teepee in the river bottom. My cute boys!
Our pears and peaches are growing! We also have our Rose of Sharon growing and another Day Lily. We got a new ball to play w/ Piper that's a little more durable. She sure loves to play fetch!
