More Fall Fun

Friday, October 17th, after I got back home from work, Steve went up to Centerville to stay the night w/ Conor and London.  Stacie and Phill went to San Francisco over the weekend for Stacie's birthday/anniversary, so we offered to help.  Carrie took care of them Friday until Steve got there.  The next morning Steve packed up the kids and came down to our place so they could play w/ Nyles.  We had our Primary Program practice that morning at 9am and Steve wasn't quite back yet, so I took Nyles w/ me to the church.  After about 15 minutes Steve showed up and took the three of them upstairs to play in the nursery while we practiced.

After our practice, we went over to the school playground by us and played for a while and had snacks.  They had a great time!  We then brought the kids back, had some macaroni and cheese, then put Nyles down for a nap.  Steve then took Conor and put him in his carseat and planned to take a drive, but as soon as he put him in, he was out.  Steve then drove around to our carport, parked the car, and turned it off and relaxed/slept a little while Conor napped.  I stayed at the house w/ London and Nyles.  While Nyles napped, London colored a picture for Stacie since it was her birthday, and watched a movie.

After the boys got up from their naps, we jumped in the car and went over to Wheeler Farm.  It was a little busy, but we had a good time.  Conor wasn't feeling too well though.  He must have had a cold.  He had a runny nose and was really lethargic compared to his normal self.  Unfortunately all of us who watched him got his cold (Steve, myself, Nyles, Carrie, Lynsie, Dave, Joann) and are still recovering from it.  It happens :)

Looking at the ducks/geese.  Thankfully it was a BEAUTIFUL day, nice and sunny!

Nyles LOVES tractors, and has to drive one every chance he can :)

After Wheeler Farm we went back home for a little while, had a snack, then Steve took them back home for dinner and to get ready for bed.  Dave and Joann came after a little while and took over until the next evening when they got home.

Sunday, October 19th we had our Primary Program.  It turned out really well I think.  All 10 of our kids showed up and did their best w/ their part and singing.  I helped each of them up to the stand and whispered in their ear what to say, except for Lelani who is 11.  All the rest of the kids are ages 4-6, so they don't read quite yet.  The kids did great though!  Afterwards during Sharing Time we watched "The Gift" as a reward and I made some kettle corn to go w/ it.  We then played a couple games of Bingo and did some coloring.  I think the kids had a great time, and of course we're glad it's over. :)

I took work off on Monday, October 20th.  We made another trip to Cornbelly's during the day. On our way down to Cornbelly's in Lehi we stopped at the DMV for Steve to renew his driver's license.  Oh course it took a 1/2 hour to get through the line and give them money, but at least we got it done.  I'll have to renew mine in February, yeah!  We met then met Kim and Carrie at Cornbelly's.

After playing at Cornbelly's, we went and got lunch.  On our way back home Nyles of course fell asleep.  We then hung out a little while at home, then Steve had to go to class.  I had class that night as well online.  It was a fun day though!

October Outings

October is here!  The leaves have definitely changed and so has the weather.  It sure has been cooler these past couple weeks getting up for work.  We've had to use jackets more when going outside during the day as well, but as long as the sun has been shinning it's been nice outside.  Here are some updates.

Nyles playing at a playground, he's driving ;)

Throwing rocks in the water, one of his favorite things to do at this park.

Nyles and Lynsie playing at Grandma LuDean's while Steve trims LuDean's bushes.  Carrie and Joann came by to watch the kids and visit LuDean.

We tried to listen to General Conference last week, but weren't too successful.  It definitely was a little trickier this time than last time.  Last time Nyles just happened to take naps each time during the talks so we were able to listen.  This time he didn't want to take a nap at all!  He kept flipping out after we put him in his crib so we decided to take him for a drive, and of course he fell asleep right away.  As we went to put him in his crib he flipped out again.  We went to a park after conference was over, and of course he fell asleep again.  By nighttime we figured he would be really tired and would go to bed right away.  Unfortunately he learned to get his leg over the side and got out of his crib, then opened his door, since he can now reach the door handles.  Steve then decided to get the safety gate and fasten it to this crib so he wouldn't be able to get out.  We turned the crib around a few months ago so the higher back on the crib is in the front where he can't get out either.  The other two sides are against the walls.  After putting the safety gate he cried for a few minutes then went to bed.

The next day Steve took the front of the crib off after his afternoon nap to see if he would sleep in the toddler bed.  Steve said he played on his bed much of the afternoon.  After I got home and we got him ready for bed he was excited to go sleep in his toddler bed, but when we went in his room and laid him down, he flipped out again.  We're not sure what his deal was, but since we all needed sleep at this point, we decided to put the front back on and try transitioning to his toddler bed at another time.

Nyles trying his toddler bed, though it only lasted a couple hours.  You can see the safety gate fastened to his crib.  It's still there now.  Maybe in a few weeks we'll take the front of the crib off and transition to this bed.

Steve giving Nyles a haircut.  Nyles LOVES dum dum suckers, and is easily bribed by them ;)

Nyles took the strainer out of Joann's dishwasher, then the fish magnet off the fridge and said "fish!"  Like father like son. ;)

This Friday after work, we headed up to the cabin to a quick trip.  Dave wanted to put the boat away and winterize some of the cabin so we said we would help.  Dave and Joann headed up a little earlier about 4pm, we got up there around 8pm.  Zach and Erin also came up and got up there shortly before we did.  Nyles fell asleep on our way up, so of course he wanted to play for a while after getting to the cabin.  Thankfully we went down to bed about a half hour later.  Dave and Joann went to bed not too long after that, but we stayed up until 10:30pm playing "Ticket to Ride" and "Picwitz."  It was a lot of fun.

The next morning around 6am Steve and Zach got up to go duck hunting for an hour or so.  Nyles may have heard them get up and wanted to get up and play shortly thereafter.  So, we got up and went downstairs to play.  It was pretty cool, about 57 degrees, so I made a fire to warm up the cabin.  Dave got up a little while later, and got the fire really roaring.  About 8:30am Steve and Zach came back.  They said they had a great time and shot 2 ducks.

Their decoys all set up and ready for the ducks to come.
It was a little foggy out on the lake that morning as well.

Steve with his Gadwall Duck he shot.  He was pretty proud of his kill :)

After they got back, we quickly packed up a few things and went out on the lake one more time before winterizing it.  Last time we went up to the cabin we didn't get a chance to take the boat out, we just did work.  Nyles was pretty sad, so he was really tickled we got to go out and fish this time.  He loves being on the boat and fishing w/ Dad and Grandpa.

Dave getting his line ready.

Nyles wanting to help Dave fish.

Erin and Zach fishing.

The fog was just clearing out as we got on the water.  It was perfect for a while, then the wind picked up and it got a little cool.  We had a few bites but didn't reel any fish in.  We all still had a great time though.

Nyles helping Grandpa fish some more ;)

Me, driving the boat

After fishing, we went back to the cabin and put the boat away for the winter.  Nyles was tired, but didn't want to take a nap of course, so we went back down and he played while I made some lunch.  After lunch we headed back down.  Nyles fell right asleep of course.  Once we got home we quickly showered, changed and got back in the car to go to Cornbelly's.  Stacie and Melanie were already there, so we caught up w/ them after finding a place to park.  Needless to say it was really busy.  It was still a fun place though!  Dave and Joann got us all Season Passes, so we're planning to go back.

Nyles loves the slides.  I guess he wanted to go down on this one by himself though.

More of his size ;)

A horse swing.

A really big cow!

Nyles going down the slide all by himself.  He has grown so much these past couple months.  He's 26 months old today.  He's grown another inch or so since his last Dr appointment.  He's definitely looking more like a little boy instead of a baby now.
