Steve took Nyles to IHOP last week for cheap pancakes. Nyles really liked them. We had to make them for dinner this week.
Nyles has been working on potty training still. Sometimes he likes to put a piece of toilet paper in the bowl and use it as target practice. Well I guess he thought the whole roll would be a even better. Silly kid.

Steve took Joann to a follow up appointment at the hospital. While they were waiting they went to a park and played. Nyles thought it was a lot of fun.
After a short lesson for FHE we played "Go Fish." Nyles thought it was a lot of fun, especially when we put the cards on our foreheads.

Friday, July 17th, we got together w/ some our old neighbors from our 11th Branch. It was great visiting w/ everyone. Our group has definitely grown now w/ kids. We went to the Aquarium last Saturday the 18th and while there we watched a quick video about the Galapagos Islands. It was 4-D. Nyles thought it was pretty fun. I cut my hair that day also.
Nyles loves playing at the playground at the Aquarium also, especially now that he can go all by himself.
Nyles has also been LOVING riding his bike. I took him out last week and he all of a sudden "got it." I was holding his back helping to push him when he said, "Do it myself mom." So I let go and he started taking off all by himself. He can now stop and go basically by himself. He even figured out how to steer and turn. We even had to higher the seat so his knees weren't hitting him. He must be getting taller. He loves to ride around our complex. We've been taking him out morning and night to ride around while it's not too hot this past week. He's getting really good at it.
Nyles knows I love flowers, so every so often when he sees some at the store he asks Steve to buy me some. This week Nyles wanted to buy me these flowers. Such a cutie! They're so beautiful too.
Friday, July 24th I had to work, even though it's a State Holiday. I wasn't feeling the best though in that I had a stuffy nose and sore throat, so I slept in. I only had 2 appointments from 11am-2pm, so I didn't go in until then. Steve dropped me off at work then met up w/ Dave Thomas and went fishing at a local pond. They didn't catch any but they said they had a great time.

After fishing they came back to their house and Nyles and Calvin played w/ toys.
Steve picked me up from work after my appointments and we went home and all took a nap. That night we went over to LuDean's house for dinner and fireworks. Though I wasn't feeling the best it was still a fun evening.

Yesterday, July 25th, we had our annual Stake Pioneer Breakfast at our pavilion. After breakfast we had the kids go around and do some pioneer things at the different booths from the wards. Our branch did lasoing a horse and milking a cow. After the kids got a sticker for completing each one, they got a flavored candy cane when they were done. Nyles thought it was a lot of fun. This was the first year he could actually do the activities.

Steve is getting close to finishing his Summer class. He will have his final in a couple weeks. Then he'll have a quick break before starting up for the Fall.
Nyles will start Preschool on August 25th. He'll go twice a week on Tuesdays/Thursdays for 2 hours. Nyles is really excited to go to school. He picked out a cute little backpack this week w/ trucks and cars on it. He's also looking forward to his Fire Truck birthday in a couple weeks. We're going to take a tour of our local fire station. Steve's friend Zach Hannay happens to be stationed at our fire station, so we're going to do the tour while he's at work.
Things have been pretty hectic at work w/ lots of changes. We finally got word of where we are going to be "aligned." I'm going to be aligned w/ our Brea, CA (Orange County) branch. I'll start getting new accounts from there now, but our official change won't happen until September and October. We're also going to be put on new teams starting in August. When all is said and done it should be gone. There are just lots of changes to get used to at once is all.
Steve and I were able to go to the temple again this week. Rob came over and watched Nyles then put him to bed so we could go. We're still trying to go once a month. We made it just in time for the last session this time. It was pretty full but it was still a good experience. We're so thankful to attend the temple and for the convenience of having so many so close. What a blessing it is to us.
We're trying to be patient with what the Lord has in store for us. We know things happen according to the Lord's time frame not ours.
Elder Neil L. Andersen said, "As you keep the commandments and pray in faith to see the Lord’s hand in your life, I promise you that He will open your spiritual eyes even wider, and you will see more clearly that you are not alone. "
I am reminded of this quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley also. He said, “It isn’t as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don’t worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. He will not forsake us. … If we will put our trust in Him, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers." I know this is true.
