3rd Week of September

The boys and I were all sick last week, so Steve had his turn this week.  He went to his clinical rotations at LDS Hospital on Monday and then went to class that night, but ended up staying home the rest of the week trying to get better.  Since he works at the hospital they didn't want him coughing in everyone's faces or getting them sick.  He went to the Dr mid week and they said he had bronchitis.  They put him on a strong steroid to get rid of it and hope that it doesn't turn into pneumonia.  So far so good.  He still has his cough and some wheezing, but in comparison he's feeling much better.

Things are going pretty well for me at work.  We're just about to finish up the 3rd Quarter this next week.  I'm definitely feeling more caught up and on top of my book, in comparison to last quarter.  The Lord has blessed me to be able to handle it and I'm so thankful I can work from home 50% of the time.  It's a huge blessing and perfect timing with Steve's clinical rotations.  We'd all be more tired and ornery if I wasn't able to work from home since I'd have to drop the kids off earlier and pick them up later.  I also would have to had taken more sick days instead of being able to work through it while working from home.

Nyles is enjoying 2nd grade.  He's working hard at reading and math.  He has parent-teacher conferences coming up this week.  He also started a basketball after-school program which he'll do for a couple months for fun.  Carter seems to enjoy preschool as well and has lots to say when he comes home.  He always has a picture he colored or craft he made as well.  We're so glad they enjoy learning and are trying to stay positive even if it's hard sometimes.

 

Wednesday Steve brought the boys to the Gateway Mall for my work party.  They did one last year like this, but decided to do it a month earlier and add a few more things.  Instead of doing our summer BBQ w/ our families and a small Halloween party, we voted to combined them for a bigger party.  It's also replacing our employee only Holiday Party, which I hardly went to since you couldn't bring your family.  Again we all voted that we'd rather have a party where we can bring our family, so this is the result of it.  It's definitely a huge improvement!  Steve met me right when it started at 4pm. There weren't any lines so the kids walked right up for games, cotton candy, donuts, kettle corn, and only had a wait a little while to get their faces painted.

After games we went and got our food just before 5pm.  They assigned food times as well (based on what you wanted), to stagger the food lines.  There were like 10 different food trucks to chose from and get your food.  Carter ate a little of his food, then he wanted to go dance w/ the music.

After dinner the kids wanted to go get more cotton candy.  Before dinner there weren't any lines, but this time we had to wait.  Luckily a Magician came and did magic tricks while we waited in line to help pass the time.  The kids thought it was pretty fun.

Thursday Steve went over to the Hamilton's place so Brad could help him weld part of the trailer.

Friday night we went and turned in 2 expired car seats to be recycled at Wal-Mart and got $30 each!  Talk about win/win.  We then got a few groceries, came home and played a couple round of Jenga!

Saturday we cleaned up around the house, I went to the temple and did initiatiories and Steve got ready to go duck hunting for the youth opener.  He promised the neighbor's kid (the same one he took deer hunting last year) that he'd take him.  We also picked more of our fresh peaches.  They just keep coming!  Luckily our neighbors enjoy peaches too, so we shared a large bag w/ them.
