Here are some highlights from the last week of June.
I went into the office again on Monday and Tuesday, to make up the 2 days I worked from home the week before due to my hip. We did the same thing as the week before, in that Steve drove me into the office, then they went up to Lagoon for a few hours, then came and picked me up early afternoon. I then worked from home the rest of the day.
Monday evening we had dinner at Dave/Joann's place, along w/ Stacie/Phill's family. After dinner we played a few games, like Farkle, and the boys mostly played outside. Conor came over and slept at our place that night, then Steve dropped him off the next morning after taking me to work, on their way to Lagoon again.
Steve took a picture of the boys are they started, so he could remember what they were wearing that day. It was another HOT day, so they hit up Water Snake Rapids and got wet! Playing "Army" outside w/ Conor.
Tuesday at Lagoon. I was able to go do initiatories at the temple that evening. It was extra sweet to be there, since the week before I didn't know if I was going to be able to get out of the house.
Wednesday, Steve took the boys to the chiropractor for a free checkup (kid's day). He then went up to the cabin w/ Dave and helped clean it. They were there all day but got a lot done. Hudson was tired by the afternoon and fell asleep on the coach.
Thursday, Nyles had an O.W.L. Camp at a county library in West Jordan. It was based off Harry Potter, so he dressed up. They did STEM learning during the morning, then Steve picked him up in the afternoon. Near the library was an awesome park, so Steve stopped so Hudson and Carter could play a while.
Hudson asleep on the coach. Hudson and Carter playing at the park. Nyles ready for camp!
The boys "fixing and working on" their Lego cars. And of course making a big mess haha ;) Steve took Nyles to do baptisms for the dead Thursday evening. Later Hudson finally asleep in bed.
Friday was Rob's birthday (and Kristi's and Jeff's). Steve offered to smoke ribs for Rob's birthday, and I made a pumpkin cake for him. Carter also got his new scriptures from Grandma and Grandpa Hegerhorst (my parents) for his 8th birthday. He was so excited to get them! We played Farkle after dinner, then Rob left and I mowed the lawn.
Steve with his beautifully smoked ribs. They were so good! Carter w/ his new scriptures, engraved w/ his name. Singing Happy Birthday to Rob!
Saturday, we went behind the cabin/Strawberry Reservoir and cut down firewood. Steve paid for a cord permit on Wednesday when he went up w/ his dad. Since we were planning to do more camping this year, and they charge $7/bundle at the stores for wood, we figured we would be better off cutting our own trees, than buying 2-4 bundles every camping trip.
Hudson fell asleep on the way up. Beautiful white Columbine flowers everywhere.
Steve ready to cut the dead trees down.
Carter and Nyles wanted to help. So they cut off the limbs, after Steve cut the tree down.
After Hudson woke up, he wanted to help as well.
On our way back, we stopped at the cabin. Dave/Joann were there w/ Jeff/Kim/Cameron and his friends. We thought we could cut the trees there, but since they were so dry, they split pretty easy. We ended up loading them back up and took them home to cut.
More pretty flowers in our front yard.
On Sunday, Nyles gave his first talk. He decided to
speak about “In times of suffering, we must trust the Lord.” He did a great job, especially considering it was a missionary homecoming, and there were a LOT of people there. Dave/Joann were also able to come as well, which was great to support him. Here is a
link to his talk. Great quotes:
