The boys were officially out of school for summer. Here are some highlights.
I made some marshmallow Carmel popcorn balls and shared them w/ the neighborhood boys who were over playing. Hudson, Beau Evans, Ethan Gatherum, Clay Evans, Carter and Nyles.
We went up to Little Cottonwood Canyon and looked at the pioneer quarry they used for the SLC Temple. It always amazes me the time and effort they had to take to get the stone and move it to downtown SLC. A little lizard. Beautiful views.
Stunning views. Another lizard. The water is raging coming down the canyon.
Monday, June 3rd, we were finally able to make our tie dye shirts for our Primary Activity. We did it as a combined activity w/ both the boys and girls and planned to wear them up to Camp Tracy again. Crazy enough we had cancelled 2xs before due to the rain, and it was threatening to rain on us again! Thankfully we were able to get them done before any serious rain came.
The boys at the Curiosity Museum. Carter w/ his done tie dye shirt. Nyles at the Middle School.
The boys playing w/ some reusable water balloons I got. They're pretty fun. We also got a doggy door for Piper to learn to use. We worked on training/bribing her to use it so she can let herself out when we were gone for the day. Steve and the boys liked showing her how to use it. :)
Getting snow cones to celebrate the start of summer and Nyles' hard work at finishing his black best test! Hudson playing in the hose. He LOVES playing in water!
On Friday, June 7th we celebrated Carter's 8th birthday coming up. We went over to LuDean/Diane's for dinner. Dave/Joann met us there. Steve cooked up steak for dinner, then we sang Happy Birthday to Carter. Carter wanted Minions for his cupcakes this year.
Singing Happy Birthday to Carter!
Diane then let us play a fun car game and got prizes. Thanks Diane!!
On Saturday, June 8th it was Carter's official 8th Birthday. I made more Minion cupcakes. This time I made the crazy minions from Despicable Me 2. They turned out pretty good. Carter also solved his 2x2 rubix cube. Good work Carter!
A super funny birthday card from my parents, Grandma and Grandam on the farm.
We then went over to Chuck O Rama for lunch w/ Dave/Joann, per Carter's request.
Pretty flowers in bloom around the yard.
More pretty flowers.
We then went over to the Cottonwood Heights Rec Center to go swimming! Stacie's family met us there, and Pauline's family. Melanie and Olivia also showed up and Ryan and Lynsie.
Pauline w/ Lincoln and me w/ Hudson swimming in the pool.
We then went back to Dave/Joann's place for pizza and cake and ice cream.
Singing Happy Birthday to Carter again!
Hudson and Lincoln playing. Eating cake and ice cream in the back yard.
Then opening his gifts. Thanks everyone for coming; we really appreciated it!
Cute Carter!
The boys playing w/ Carter's new army men. Hudson, Conor, Ezra, Nyles, Carter and Lincoln.
Silly Hudson pretending to be Harry Potter. Nyles and Carter stayed the night w/ Stacie's family (Conor). They were pretty tired and fell asleep on the way back. Hudson also fell asleep in our car.
We met Stacie's family for dinner at Dave/Joann's the next day, Sunday. Phill and Steve helped get their old water heater out of the basement and replace it w/ the new one. The old one was just a little heavy. Steve then gave Dave his shot. Good work!
Great quotes:
