On Saturday morning, May 11th, we ate breakfast at the hotel (free), then got our luggage and went to the lobby. Our shuttle service was right on time (even a little bit early), and we were one our way. No one else was in our group, so we had the whole van to ourselves. We made good time, and even got there a little early. We were all super excited to see the Disney Fantasy ship. This was our first time being on it.
Steve, Hudson, Diane, Carter, Nyles and I all ready to go to the port.
There she is; the Fantasy Ship!
We met a nice gentleman who helped us w/ our luggage. He told us he'd been 45 cruises! We got there a little early for our port arrival time, so we expected to wait another 30 minutes before our time was called. Next thing we knew, a lady came up to Steve and asked if our whole party was there. He said yes, and she said, "Would you like to be my family of the day?" We weren't sure what it meant exactly, but we said, "Yes!"
She then took us to the front, where they checked our passports and documentation. We then went through security and got officially checked in! She then took us literally to the front of the line where there was a sign that said "Family of the Day."
A couple who was sitting across from us asked us, "Are you the McGraths from Salt Lake City?" We were like, "yes??" not sure how they knew our names. We then looked over and saw our name had been put up on the TV screens, where everyone could see our name.
We had such a fun first day! It was such a neat experience to be the family of the day and get to board the ship first! After a day at Disney World waiting in lines, it was nice not to wait in lines getting on the ship! We slept well and were excited for our next day at sea!
In front of the Disney Fantasy. Sitting in the "Family of the Day" section.
Our name up on the TV screen. About to be the first to board the ship.
Family of the Day: The McGrath Family from SLC, UT! We then got to be the first group to get on the ship (aside from back to back cruisers). We got to meet and hugged Mickey! It was sooo fun!!!
First group to board the ship!
Meeting and hugging Mickey!
We then went up to Cabanas for lunch. It wasn't quite opened yet, so we changed into our swimsuits so we could do swimming after eating, which we did. We were the first in the pools and plash pads.
Hudson playing in the splash pad.
Hudson in the splash pad and pool. Then getting some ice cream of course!
We then got our staterooms, unloaded a little bit, then went back upstairs for the sail away party!
Our stateroom. We had connecting rooms w/ Diane. Nyles and Carter stayed in her room.
We then went and explored the kids' clubs.
Fun Toy Story characters from Andy's room!
Fun activities!
So fun. The boys with their Mickey Bars for dessert. I liked to order a couple to try them both.
Later our towel animal in our room w/ Dove chocolates!
Swimming from earlier in the day. Then ready for bed in the bunkbeds.
