3rd Week of October

This past week was pretty busy, but great!  With the weather being nice (in the 60's) we wanted to take advantage of it while we could and do more things outside.  I wrote down a few hikes we could do and we went for it.

Sunday, October 18th we went up to Ensign Peak.  Last year when we went, we didn't have Piper, so this time we brought her along, which was fun.  As we hiked we reminded the boys of the history of the place we were hiking.  The view is breathtaking of the valley.

Nyles and Carter on our way up.

Reading about Ensign Peak.

Almost there, and info about the Great Salt Lake.

We made it!  What a beautiful view!

Taking a snack break at the top of the peak.

Family picture.

Steve using Carter as a bench press while Hudson watches.

Cute Hudson in his Halloween shirt (it glows in the dark too).

Carter coloring inside of a box while Piper watches.

Cute Hudson bear ready for his bath.

Carter hitching a ride from Nyles into their room for bed.

On Monday we went on a short hike up to the Rocky Mouth Trail.  It only took about 15 minutes to get there, so 30 minutes total (going pretty slow w/ the kids).  It's all uphill on the way there and mostly stairs, so it's a good workout still.  Carter did awesome though and did most of it by himself.  We went while Nyles was in school so he missed it.  The leaves were pretty along the way.

We made it to the waterfall, though it's more of just a trickle right now.

Steve, Carter, Hudson and I at the waterfall.

Carter being silly on the way back.  For a fun project, we gathered different types of leaves on the way back which we used to color over/trace after Nyles got home from school.

Steve ran over to Scheel's to grab more ammo, so Carter went and played on the Jeep for a minute.

When Nyles got home from school we colored over the leaves from our hike to see their shapes.

Cute baby Hudson.

On Tuesday we went on a hike w/ Nyles up to Little Bell Canyon right after he got done w/ homework.

Beautiful colors.

The water was super low of course.

View of the valley.

Beautiful colors in the canyon.

The water was so low it wasn't even running in the creek, but the boys still wanted to go on the bridge.

Nyles can reach both sides!

Getting a quick snack before heading down.

Watching the beautiful sunset on our way down.

Carter catching a ride.  This hike was a little longer than the one yesterday.  It takes 30 minutes one way, so w/ stopping over an hour total.  It was great to get out though and enjoy the beauty around us.

Hudson pretty much slept the whole way.

Hudson w/ his fishing vest on :)

Steve cleaned out the garage and organized it more, and we found another coat hanger.  We decided to hang it above the others and use it for masks and hats instead of cluttering our key ring one.

Steve worked hard all afternoon and got things organized in the garage.  We can find things a little easier now.  Thanks and good work honey!

They decorated masks during "brain boosters" at school.  Awesome Nyles!

Hudson turned 2 months old on the 20th, yeah!

Carter likes to be close to Piper, even while she eats her bones.

Just playing by Piper.

Friday after Nyles got done w/ his school work, we went over to the Aquarium.

It's the "Haunted Aquarium" so the kids can dress up in their costumes.

Plus it's decorated w/ lots of Halloween stuff and they have a scavenger hunt to find mythical creatures like a Yet, Big Foot, and the Kracken.  It was a lot of fun.

We invited Pauline and her family to join us.  Lincoln dressed up as "Link."

The outdoor area is almost complete.  They had a zip line available this time to the kids had to try it.

Checking out the sharks: Hudson (in the stroller), Ezra as Link, Nyles and a ninja, Carter as Iron Man, Charlotte as her own thing and Lincoln also as Link.

Carter, Ezra and Nyles double checking which mythical creature is left to find.

Checking out the cute penguins.

After we found all the mythical creatures they turned in their cards and got a bag of candy!

After we got home we had our carpets cleaned.

Much better!

Nyles singing a song to Hudson.

Silly Hudson lost his binky on his nose.

Steve went out duck hunting w/ Rob on Saturday afternoon/evening.

While he was gone we put together Fire Trucks from Home Depot (Hudson was sleeping).

Piper ate wood chips while we built them.  Silly Piper.

All done!

And the Fire Trucks we built from Lowe's also!

Good work boys!

Piper loves to play catch w/ the ball, but sometimes she stops and won't give the ball back. Silly Piper!

The boys jumps on the trampoline while I threw the ball for Piper.

And then on Sunday, October 25th, we woke up to snow!  Can you believe it?

As you can see we had record cold temperatures.
Ironically earlier in the month we had record hot temperatures in the 80s.

The boys were so excited for the snow they wanted to go play in it.

Piper thought it was pretty fun to run in it as well.

It was REALLY cold all day, barely above freezing, so it was a great opportunity to try out our new electric fireplace we put in back in June.  It is nice and warm!

Nyles going down the slide w/ all the snow, Carter watching and Piper running around.

Then they built snowmen!

Good work!

Cute snowmen!

That afternoon at 4pm we blessed cute baby Hudson at our home.

Grandma Joann w/ Hudson.

Cute Carter also.

Since it was so cold and we couldn't go outside in order to spread out due to Covid, we only had Dave, Joann, LuDean and Diane come over for the blessing while everyone else joined us via zoom.  We appreciate everyone's love and support.

Steve blessed Hudson Lee McGrath, w/ Dave and our bishop (Brian Anderson) joining in the circle.

Cute boys!

Family picture.

One w/ Grandma LuDean and Joann after his nap.  We had dinner while he was sleeping.

We are so blessed and thankful to have Hudson in our family.  We love him and all of our boys so much!

Great reminder.
