1st Half of September

It's hard to believe September is almost over.  It's gone by really quick.  Hudson had his 2 week appointment on September 4th.  He weighed 9 lbs 3 ozs, which is exactly 1 pound more than his birth weight of 8 lbs 3 oz.  Thankfully he's growing and doing well overall.  We are slowly getting used to our new schedule w/ baby Hudson.  It's a little tricky and tiring at times, but we're thankful he's here and is part of our family.  Here are some other highlights.

We finally got our new reclining couches!  We had ordered some back in July, hoping to get them while I was still pregnant and super uncomfortable, but they kept getting backed up.  They were all coming out of China, so they were behind on making them, last we heard this particular couch wouldn't be in until Christmas.  Since it was going to take months to get them, we decided to go look again (right before Hudson was born).  We kept going back to these theater style couches.  They are so comfy we decided to get them.  Luckily they were only 2 weeks out, so we changed our order and switched to these instead.  They all recline and are technically individual couches (not hooked together).  Everyone has their own seat, cup holders, foot rests, and arm rests.  They even light up underneath the seats and around the cup holders.  They would have been wonderful to have while I was pregnant, but we're thoroughly enjoying them now!

Steve has one more board exam to pass before being officially "certified."  He passed the 1st one last June and is getting ready to take the 2nd one here soon.  In order to prep for it, he took another review class before taking the next board exam.  It was 3 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).  Due to Covid it was online, which was nice.  This exam will be about the Abdomen region.  He's waiting to get the ok from the board he can take the test, then he'll sign up for his test date.

Sunday, September 13th, we dropped off some Autumn Soup to Dave/Joann.  Joann just had surgery on her stomach, so she needs really soft foods to eat.  After dropping it off, we went up to Sugarhouse Park (2100 South/13th East) to walk around.  I have been there once for a work event, but neither Steve nor the boys had been, so we thought it would be fun to go walk around.  Ironically when we got there, there were a LOT of huge trees that had blown down.  We had a huge wind storm on Tuesday, September 8th across the state and it blew down lots of trees.  Though we didn't have much wind in Sandy, closer to downtown and north of Salt Lake they had winds up to 112 mph!  Dave and Joann had a few trees in their yard and around their neighborhood there also were trees that came down, but we didn't have any.  Schools were closed the day of the windstorm and some the day after too (mostly up north in Davis County, not us).

Sadly Sugarhouse Park had so many trees come down.  The boys thought it was a lot of fun to go check the fallen trees out though.  When we were there, utility workers were there also since some had fallen on power lines.  Some people were w/out power for days too.  It looked like we just had a tornado or something come through.  Crazy times!  Here are some pics of the trees just in this one park.

So many trees and branches down.  It was hard to find a dumpster to rent since the City was using most of them.  Steve went and helped Dave w/ his trees/yard, borrowed the neighbor's trailer and took them to the dump.  Needless to say there were many people doing the same thing.
