Trial Lake

Sunday, August 11th, after church we left to go up to the Unitas to go camping at Trial Lake and celebrate Nyles' birthday the next day.  Stacie and Phill had just left their house when someone rear-ended them.  The lady was looking at her phone as an Uber driver and not paying attention to the road/people in front of her.  Luckily they were only a couple blocks from home, so they were able to get home, unload, then come up.

Their hitch was bent, along w/ the back of the trailer.

It was a beautiful day!  The kids set up canopies, we cooked dinner (tacos), and made a fire.

We got 2 campsites close to the water, and 2 across from us.  Beautiful views.

S'more time!  We brought up plenty of firewood.  Firewood that Steve and the boys cut down.

Rob, Phill, Stacie, Cathy (Kim's mom), and Kim.  Silly Hudson.  Steve w/ Piper.  Piper's foot is still healing, so we have to put a plastic bag over her foot anytime she's outside.  She stayed in her kennel in the car most of the time (she feels safest there), or in the camper on her bed.

Getting dark.  Stacie and Phill ended up driving home that night, but Conor stayed w/ us in our camper, and Claire stayed w/ Alexa in their camper.  Rob slept in his car.

The next day was Nyles' birthday, so we brought a few things to decorate the camper.  

Carter slept on the floor next to Piper so Conor could take his bed.  He actually really liked it since he was close to Piper. :)

The next morning we had breakfast together (pancakes, bacon, fruit, etc).  Cameron and Hudson.  Kim.  Carter, Alexa, Claire and Nyles around the fire.  Steve cleaning up breakfast.

Stacie and Phill drove back up that morning and were there as we were cleaning up breakfast.  

We then got ready to go fishing and kayaking on the lake.

Dave and Joann came up as well.  Cathy visiting Joann.  Steve smoked rib's for Nyles' birthday before we left and vacuum sealed them.  We then warmed them up there for lunch.  They were super yummy!

Rob and I went out to fish from the kayaks.  We both caught fish.

Jeff got his drone out, so Carter and Hudson watched him fly it.  The clouds came in thicker, and soon it started to rain.  We had just cleaned up the kayaks and got off the water.

We also had lightening and thunder.  It rained HARD!  We played games under the canopy and kept the fire going to stay warm.  Jeff had satellite showing the storm wasn't going to let up, so we decided to pack up and go home.

Hudson stayed in the camper and watched a show on Steve's phone while we cleaned up.  He soon fell asleep.  It rained really hard most of the way down the canyon.  We stopped at Dave/Joann's to give Dave his shot, then went home.  We had another pretty sunset.

Though we had planned to stay another night, we were glad we went home.  It rained the next day as well, so that wouldn't have been much fun to be up there.  Again, though the trip was cut short, we all had a great time up there together.  Until next year.....
