We were planning to go up to my parents and the Hegerhorst Family Reunion over the 4th of July, but Piper didn't get into the kennel, so we decided it would be best to stay home. Here are some highlights of the activities we enjoyed over the Holiday weekend.
Friday, July 1st we made tie dye shirts for the first time as a family. We got shirts and a kit and made a "regular" tie dye one, then a 4th of July one. It was a lot of fun to make!
Getting our design ready, then outside putting on the dye.
We let them set overnight, then rinsed them out the next morning. They turned out awesome!
Our "regular" tie dye shirts. Hudson LOVES to be in the water!
Saturday morning we went up to Midway to Melanie and Brandon's house to join Steve's family for some fun. We went swimming in the pool first.
London Claire and Alexa playing w/ Hudson. Joann and Steve, and Hudson enjoying the water.
Hudson playing w/ the diving rings, then playing w/ them w/ London Claire.
Steve and Carter and Stacie hanging out in the pool.
Steve, Hudson and Carter on the innertube. Then Steve leading a train w/ the kids.
More fun at the pool, and hanging out w/ cousins and Grandpa.
After lunch we set up a huge slip and slide. Everyone had fun going down it.

Hudson playing downstairs in the playroom. Dave fell asleep that afternoon.
Hudson later playing on the innertubes.
We had a BBQ for dinner that night. Hudson drawing on the white board. Nyles and I played Pickelball w/ Conor, Noah and Cameron. It was a lot of fun!
Steve, Hudson and I went home after dinner so we could stay w/ Piper. Our neighbor Karolen went and let her out several times throughout the day, which was really nice of her. Nyles and Carter stayed overnight w/ their cousins.

We hung out at home that evening, and make cupcakes and decorated them.
Monday morning, on the 4th of July, we met Pauline and her family at a little reservoir in Herriman called Blackridge Reservoir. We brought our kayaks to use on the water, and the kids played in the sand. It was a lot of fun!
Steve trying an experiment to see if he could sink the kids' kayak. Amazingly he couldn't. Chris and Lincoln taking my kayak out for a spin, and Hudson and Carter playing in the sand/water.
We had dinner that night w/ LuDean and Diane. Rob joined us as well since he didn't have any plans. After dinner we played a fun game.
Hudson playing w/ the toy BBQ set, playing our game, the boys enjoying a slushy I made after swimming that afternoon, and Hudson enjoying a Mickey ice cream bar.
We then went out and played w/ handheld bubble machines, and the boys threw Pop Its.

More bubbles.
It was a busy day, so we went home and got Hudson to bed.
Steve, Nyles and Carter then enjoyed some fireworks w/ the neighbors.
I am so thankful for the freedoms we have and to live in this beautiful country.
