Steve Young Men's Hike in the Uintas

August 3rd and 4th Steve went up to the Uinta's Mountains with the young men from our ward.  He's still teaching the 11 year olds (turning 12) in Primary w/ me during 2nd hour, but then goes to Young Men's during 3rd hour.  He helps w/ the Teacher's group (ages 14-15).  They decided to go up to the Unitas for a 3 day hike.  I guess it's been a while since the YM have done an overnight hike.  When Steve was called to the YM they said they were looking forward to having someone else with "outdoor skills."  You could definitely tell the YM hadn't had much opportunity to do things like hiking, so Steve had to teach them a few things before going.  Steve was a little worried if it would work out, but everyone had a great time and it ended up working out great.  They all said they'd love to go again next year.  Here are some pics (captions from Steve).

Time to go home. 

I took Thursday and Friday off so Steve could go up w/ the YMs.  While he was gone we did a few fun things to pass the time.  It's always nice to have time off work, though I wish Steve could have been with us.  I'm glad he was able to go support the YM though :)

We went to Draper Park, fed the ducks and went for a walk (Nyles rode his bike).

They have this chess set by the duck pond and Senior Citizen Center.

It was pretty warm, so we got out the water table to splash in the water.

Carter learned to climb/crawl up the stairs while Steve was gone.  

We now have to put up the baby gates or else he'll go right to the stairs.

Friday afternoon Barbara and her family came down for a Dunn Reunion.  They went over to Riverton Park for dinner then went swimming.  Mikey ended up not coming, and went to my parent's house on the farm instead.  Nyles wanted to go w/ Barb and Rich and his cousins, so since they already paid for Mikey they said why not.  So Nyles went with them to dinner, a magic show, then went swimming.  He had a GREAT TIME!  Thanks Barb and Rich for taking him.

The next day, on Saturday, they went up to Wheeler Farm for the 2nd half of their reunion.  Steve got home that afternoon as well from his trip.  Barb and Rich decided to stay another night, which made Nyles so happy (he loves when family comes to visit, and it's an extra treat if they stay overnight).  After dinner and getting Carter to bed, we set up lawn games in the back yard and played outside.  We took turns playing Bocce, Badminton, and Ladder Ball around the yard.  It was a lot of fun and it was nice being outside, since it cooled off a little by then.  Nyles had so much fun playing w/ his cousins.  Though it was as quick trip, we had a lot of fun having them stay w/ us and spending some time with them.  (Surprisingly I didn't get any pictures, oh well).
