Bear Lake Vacation

Friday, August 21st, the day after Nyles' birthday party, we packed up and headed up to Bear Lake.  Pauline, Chris, Charlotte and Ezra came too.  They had never been so we invited them to come with us.  They met us at our place just after lunch, then we headed up.  We stopped in Logan and picked up some Papa Murphy's pizzas for dinner, then continued up the canyon.  Normally as you get to the top of the canyon you can see the beautiful blue water of the lake, but this year due to all the fires and the smoke from them, you could barely see the water at all until a lot closer.  We picked up our keys, then headed to our condo we rented.  It was a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom, which worked out perfect.  We cooked up the pizzas, ate dinner, then headed down to the lake.

Steve was so excited to try out his wagon on the beach.  Needless to say it did great!  The kids definitely enjoyed the ride as well!

After playing in the sand for a while, we went home, gave the kids baths, then put them to bed.  We put on the Lego Movie, then went to bed ourselves.

Saturday, August 22nd, the kids woke up around 7am.  It was a beautiful morning, just a little cool.

Beautiful Sunrise over looking the harbor.  Our view from the condo.

Nyles helping Charlotte coloring.  The condo actually had a few toys, games and coloring stuff there for the kids, which was great!

After breakfast we went down to park to play.  It was still pretty cool outside so we were hoping it would warm up a bit, but unfortunately it didn't.

After playing on the playground for a while, we went back to the condo, packed up our lunches, then headed for the beach on the Idaho side.  It was a beautiful morning, minus the fact that it was only 65 degrees and there was a little wind blowing as well.  It didn't warm up much the whole day, maybe 73 as a high.  We tried to make the best of it though, and still enjoyed our time.  The kids didn't seem to mind at all of course.  They played in the sand the whole time and would come wrap up in their towels for a minute to warm up, then go back out and play.

Chris made an awesome turtle out of sand.  Charlotte put the seashell eyes on it.

Nyles eating some crackers.

The beach was packed by the afternoon, most people playing in the sand though not the water.

Time for a sucker break.

A little while after lunch, Pauline and Chris went back to the condo to put Ezra down for a nap.  We stayed and played a little longer, then packed up as well.  We went back to the condo for a bit, then decided to go to back to the beach again.  Instead of going back to the Idaho side, we went to the walking one by the park.  It was of course still cold and windy, but it was still fun to play in the sand.

Chris went and got some yummy raspberry shakes for us all, then they met us at the beach again.

Charlotte and Nyles playing some more.

 Headed back now.

After dinner we got the kids bathed then put to bed.  Steve was pretty warn out so he headed to bed also.  Charlotte played a game w/ Chris, Pauline and I, then went to bed.  Then the 3 of us played a game of "Quiddler" then visited for a while.  It was nice just talking and being together.

The next morning we ate breakfast, packed up, dropped off our keys, then went to sacrament meeting.  After it was over we headed back down to SLC.  Though it was smokey, cold and windy this time, we still had a great time together.  Thanks for the fun Pauline, Chris, Charlotte and Ezra!  We love Bear Lake!
