We let Nyles open a couple gifts in the morning. He opened some new trucks and watched on of his favorite shows right now, "Paw Patrol." Ironically we got a new TV the night before from my perk points, yeah!
He also got a firehat shirt, and a new construction playdoh set.
He got a new firetruck as well. Happy boy!
Grandpa Dave eating pizza in the background. Nyles opening some gifts. He got a new Paw Patrol book from Grandma and Grandpa McGrath. Nyles also wanted Chocolate Chip Cookies (his favorite) and Ice Cream for dessert.
He also got a magnetic fishing puzzle set, which he thinks is really fun.
Invitation to Nyles birthday party!
Thursday, August 20th we met at the Fire Station Park in Midvale, which is right behind the fire station. We started the party by doing through a tour of the station. I was so nervous that they would be sent out on a call, but thankfully they didn't get called the whole time we had the party! Zach was great to also be our tour guide the whole time. It was awesome! Everyone enjoyed it, even the adults ;) It was neat to see where they work and what they do. They have a very important job in our community that's for sure.
Let the tour begin!
Their "living room" when they want to relax.
Their kitchen.
Their workout equipment.
"Uncle" Zach giving us the tour; Nyles following close behind.
Now checking out their cool "toys."
Zach showing us some of their gear they work with on a daily basis.
Phil, Steve and Nyles listening closely.
Conor giving Nyles a birthday hug.
Both my camera batteries died shortly after this, so luckily we had our phone cameras to capture the moments.
Zach slowly put on his fire gear to show the kids that even though he looks scary it's still him. He especially emphasized that they shouldn't be scared of firemen if they even come in contact w/ them, like in an emergency.
The kids watching w/ awe.
Nyles wasn't sure what to think, then gave Zach a high five.
Nyles saying "cheese" on the big truck w/ daddy.
Zach and some of our tour group.
Steve, Nyles and "Uncle" Zach
"Uncle" Zach and the kids w/ their firefighter hats.
Front: Ethan, Noah, Nyles, Lynsie, Conor, Sophia, Ava.
Back: Olivia, London, Ezra, Charlotte and Ali.
Summer didn't want to get in the picture.
Getting stickers and pencils from the firemen.
Zach and Steve most likely chatting about duck hunting ;)
Zach and Joann (Aaron, another fireman in the back)
Nyles and Zach.
After the tour we headed back to the park for cake and ice cream. We left them at home so they wouldn't "melt" w/ the heat, so Steve ran home quickly and picked them up. We then set up and had Nyles blow out his 3 candles. I tried to make the cupcakes look like "fire" colors, and some chocolate because we all love chocolate, right? ;) Inside the main cake I also did 3 colors (red, yellow and orange) and swirled them to look like fire.
Time for cake and ice cream.
Ezra and Conor were pretty excited for cake too!
Nyles blowing out the candles.
The cake/cupcakes.
The pavilion and park were right behind the fire station, which was very convenient for a location.
We then did a Firetruck Pinata. Nyles taking a swing at it. We let the "little" kids try first w/out a blindfold, since they were barely hitting it anyway.
Now Conor.
Now Lynsie.
Now Ezra.
We wanted all the kids to get a swing at it, but we forgot to put the blindfold on the "older" kids and Sophia got it her first try!
Candy time!
Nyles then got to open his presents. He was so excited!
A fishing pole set from Grandma/Grandpa McGrath. A Catepillar flashlight and ATV from Aunt Diane. He calls the ATV Ryder's ATV since he's the main guy on Paw Patrol and he rides an ATV. Fuzzy tub colors from Aunt Carrie.
Paw Patrol dogs from Zach and Erin. Stickers and a squishy toy from Aunt Melanie. Charlotte was nice to help him w/ his presents.
Hot wheels track from Aunt Rose.
After opening gifts, some stayed and played at the playground for a while, then went home. The weather was perfect and it was fun having everyone come. Thanks again for all who came and for the thoughtful gifts. We really appreciate your love and support!
My parents weren't able to make it, but they ended up coming down to Utah this weekend. They gave him his gift then. Nyles getting ready to open his gift from Grandma and Grandpa Hegerhorst.
Some new pajamas.
And some cool John Deere tractors and trucks.
Nyles new monster pajamas or "maji's" as Nyles calls them.
Playing w/ his fire hydrant candle.
Nyles had a great 3rd birthday! Thanks again to you all for making it a very special one! :)
