For Christmas Eve we went over to Pauline and Chris' house for dinner. Chris' family always makes Stroganoff for dinner on Christmas Eve, so he made it for us all. We then acted out the Nativity Scene by reading scriptures and singing songs. Lastly we had dessert. It was a lot of fun, thanks!
Ezra, Charlotte, Carter and Nyles acting out the Nativity Scene.
The kids were mostly cooperative :)
We had some "new props" in our story too :)
Carter wanted to watch more than participate.
Carter and Nyles were super excited to open presents Christmas morning.
Almost time!
Opening presents now.
Getting more. Carter got a book.
More books and a DoodlePro. Carter loves books and to draw.
New snow boots! Nyles said they have "gription" you know like grip and traction. Haha he cracks us up. If only we had snow.... Carter w/ a musical book.
Another book and playing w/ the Lincoln Logs.
Lincoln logs!
Steve took his boats down to LuDean's to store them for the winter. We went and visited her on Christmas Day. They let her come home for a few hours.
Then that evening we went over to Dave/Joann's place for dinner.
The kids then opened presents from Grandma and Grandpa McGrath.
Stacie and London helping Carter open his presents.
Carter loves stuffed animals and hugs, so he hugged the stuffed snowman Frosty.
We all pitched in and got Dave a GoalZero battery. He wanted it to have in case the power ever goes out and he needs to run his CPAP machine.
London helping Dave unwrap. Carter playing w/ Frosty and the other snowmen.
The next day we went to the Aquarium again to find the elves. It's fun since we live 8 minutes away so we can go for a short time. The kids enjoy going to see all the fish/animals.
Nyles on the rope bridge.
Carter's classic face.
Steve mimicking Carter, and Carter didn't like it.
Another day playing at the library while Steve was out duck hunting.
Nyles doing a puppet show for us.
More fun at the library.
Then we walked over to feed the ducks at the pond by the Draper Park. The water was a little frozen.
Nyles and Carter feeding the ducks.
Carter pitched in this time as well throwing bread to the ducks.
Then next day Carter wanted to play outside. It wasn't too cold so we went out for a little while. He sat down on the small pile of snow we had and pushed his trucks through it. He loves being outside.
Steve in front of a Harry Potter shop at the mall.
On Friday, the 19th we had Rose, her girls, Rose's boyfriend Aaron and his 2 girls, and Pauline and her family over for dinner. After dinner we had a white elephant exchange. It's a tradition on the Hegerhorst side we would do every year since we were little. We want to keep the tradition alive.
Halle, Ava, Charlotte, and Summer hearing the instructions.
Chris explaining the rules.
Nyles and Steve excited to get started.
Carter can't wait to start. He got a fluffy bunny, now he's happy!

We then played Catch Phrase and Taboo.

Notice Carter giving Nyles a head hug, silly kid.
He cracks me up!
The next day Carter wanted to go outside first thing, so we got on our boots and jacket and headed out. He wanted to walk around outside for a while in the backyard stomping on the little snow that was left.
Nyles also joined us this time. He caught the stomach flu from Ezra after being w/ him on Christmas Eve. He threw up from midnight to 4am Tuesday night. It was a long night to say the least. He didn't have much energy the next couple days either so he mainly sat on the couch. Pauline said she caught it too. Yuck no fun.
The little snow we had was melting, more like a ice pile, but they boys still played in it.
We've got a few more fish and plants for the fish tank. The green ones towards the middle are real plants. They're supposed to help w/ the Ph levels, the oxygen levels and wastes from the fish.
Nyles took some pics of his fish. He got some Tetra Fish, who are faster than the Beta Fish we already had, so he can't eat them :) We also have a 2 catfish to help eat the algae and leftover food.
My official CFP card came in the mail, yeehaw!
Carter w/ safety glasses on before church and a hair cut from dad. Cutie ;)
We went and celebrated the New Year this afternoon/evening before the kids needed to go to bed w/ the Thomas'. 2017 has been an adventure, and we're excited for what 2018 has in store for us. Happy New Year!!!
