More Updates

Let me continue w/ my updates....

Sunday night the 31st my stomach really started to hurt and I didn't sleep too well. Monday morning I still didn’t feel well so I stayed home from work.  I ended up staying home from work through Thursday.  We’re not exactly sure what I had but we think it was either the stomach flu or some sort of food poisoning.  Apparently about half of us that were at the family get together got the same thing.  Many were throwing up on their way home the next day.  It was not fun, but I’m glad it’s over.  Nyles also wasn't feeling well but more of congestion in additoin to his teething soreness.  We took him the Dr but there was nothing more we could do but give him some ibuprofen.  We've been keeping the humidifer going as well at night plus putting baby rub on his chest.  Luckily he's doing better now also, at least not congested just teething still.

It’s crazy how quickly your health can change, so quickly too.  It definitely makes me appreciate those days that I’m feeling well.  Just to get out Steve decided to take Nyles and I to a little park.  It was nice to enjoy the sun for a while.  We walked around the park and looked at the ducks.

Thursday the 4th night my Presidency and I were going to get together to watch the General Relief Society Training, but since I wasn’t feeling well I stayed home and watched it.  We all ended up watching it on our own actually.  It was really good though.  Anyone can watch it; I’d encourage anyone to watch it.  It is really good.  There is also other trainings you can find there which are really informative.  There is also the General Training that went on which can be found here 

To keep Nyles entertained this past week, Steve took Nyles to Petco to look at the fish and animals.  Needless to say he was very entertained.  Steve said he was a little confused though when the parrot started to speak to him.

 Saturday we watched General Conference. Steve went up the canyon and fished in between conference.

Sunday we invited the couple we home teach over to watch conference w/ us and for breakfast.  We made crepes and watched the morning session together.  Conference was good, though it was a little more difficult listening in that Nyles needed a nap.  Thankfully we can rewatch/listen to them again.  They are already uploaded online and I’ve started listening to them on my phone.  We also went and took a walk for an hour or so around the neighborhood.  Nyles loves his walks.

If I haven’t mentioned this before, Steve is now on our HOA board for our condo complex.  He’s been keeping pretty busy w/ that.  Unfortunately we have a lot of renters right now so many of them don’t know the “rules” so we’ve had to warn people a lot.  Steve is in charge of the grounds of the complex.  Lately we’ve been having problems w/ people smoking too close to the complex (they have to be 25 feet away from any door/window according to the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act), and also there are several cars that are not up to date on their registration.  They are giving them about 30 days to fix it or their car will be towed.  It’s nice to finally get things going in the complex.  The HOA board hasn’t really done much since we’ve lived here.

Steve is also walking on May 3^rd at the University of Utah for his Bachelor’s Degree.  He actually graduated in December but they only do one actual walk ceremony.  They have a big on Thursday night but don’t actually read the students’ names so we’re going to the one on Friday morning at 9am where it’ll be just his college, the college of Health where they will actually read his name and get pictures.  We’ll probably go out to lunch after that.  You’re all welcome to come if you’d like, no tickets are required for the commencement.

Steve is just about done w/ his College Biology class.  His just finished his last lab class today, then he has two more weeks of his main class and then his final the first week of May.  He’s excited to get this class behind him.  He’ll probably keep taking just one class a semester to finish up his last few classes of prereqs before he can apply next year for PA School.

Last Thursday the 11^th we had our Stake RS Training.  It was the best I’ve been to yet.  They had each of the wards/branches submit questions and they answered them.  They categorized them into 5 main things and addressed all of them.  We’re having a lot of people move out again this month so we need to get new sisters in callings again.  My 2^nd counselor is one of them, so once it get someone called this will be my 4^th, 2^nd counselor in 2 ½ years.  Got to love the change!

On the 12^th Nyles turned eight months old.  He actually cut two teeth last week also, his bottom teeth.  They are so cute!  He’s doing better with solids and is really moving these days.  He rolls over on his belly then wiggles around in circles and up and down to get where he wants to be, to a certain extent.  He’s still wobbly sitting up, but with the amount of wiggling he’s doing on his belly we won’t be surprised if he starts crawling soon, yikes!  Even though he’s teething and can be cranking, we just can’t get enough of his cute little face. He’s such a joy to have in our family.

Last Saturday the 13^th Steve went ice fishing up at Strawberry w/ Zach, Dave Thomas, his dad and dad’s friend Duane Bates.  They actually caught a lot of fish though it was rather windy and cold.  They were able to drive into the cabin and warm up for a while before heading home.

Happy Easter!!!

I know I'm a little slow getting this up, but I figured better late than never.  Here's an update from the last week of March.

 

Tuesday, March 26th--We had our Relief Society Birthday Dinner.  We had a pretty good turnout.  Our theme was on Finding Faith through our Trials.  We had a potluck dinner of soup, salads and rolls.  We put the cake on the tables so they were ready whenever the sisters where so we could move on with our program.  We had three sisters talk about an experience they’ve had that strengthened their faith, and then I spoke for a few minutes and our Branch President.  It was a great meeting and I felt those who attended were strengthened and uplifted.

Since Friday was Good Friday I decided to take Thursday off as well so we could go up to my parents’ house for Easter.  Steve’s friend Zach Hannay wanted to come up to the farm to get away and shoot his guns, so he can as well.  We borrowed Steve’s parents’ car since it was a little bigger so we could have a little more room for a trip.  It was nice to have more room (Thanks Dave and Joann we really appreciated it!)  We got up there in a descent amount of time though we did have to stop a couple times to feed Nyles.  As soon as we got up there Steve and Zach were ready to go out and shoot something ;)  Nyles was glad to be out of the car and his car seat, as was I.

The next morning they went out and shot rabbits then went over to a neighbor’s field and shot Rockchucks.  Nyles and I went over and visited Grandma Hegerhorst for a while.  Daron and his family came over that night to visit.  We had dinner then played some games.  Pauline, Chris, Charlotte and Rose showed up later that evening.  They left after Chris got off work and Rose dropped off the girls to Jared.  Pauline surprised us w/ some exciting news.  She had Charlotte wearing a shirt which said “Big Sister Charlotte.”  She’s due end of October; we’re all really excited for her!

Saturday morning the boys went out hunting again.  I stayed home because Nyles needed to take a nap, but everyone else went to the Bruneau Elementary School for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Barbara and Anna and their kids met everyone else at the school.  After they got back we visited a while until it was time for lunch.  We all met in my dad’s shop so we could be out of the wind.  We had a good turnout.  We then hid some candy around the house and shop/machinery and let the kids find it.

Afterwards we visited some more.  We went over to Grandma Hegerhorst’s to visit Corinne and Kris’ families.  We then went over to the Dairy.  After dinner Corinne and Diana came back over and we played a few games while the guys went out hunting again.  It was nice seeing everyone.

The next morning we were planning to go to church but I wasn’t feeling well and we wanted to get Zach back in time for his family dinner, so we decided to leave.  We actually made really good time.  Nyles did a lot better coming back home.  Steve’s family was also getting together so we hurried and unpacked and went over for an hour or so.

Welcome Spring!

Well it's officially SPRING!!! I can't tell you how excited I am for the warmer weather!  Though ironically it snowed the last couple days.  Quite a contrast to the 70 degree weather we had last week.   It's been longer than I thought since I last wrote so I'd better get caught up.

February 28th--I went w/ my 2nd counselor and we went and visited 3 new mothers in our branch.  We had one baby born in December and two at the end of January.  We also just had another born 2 weeks ago and one this week.  All boys too!  Plus we have 2 more boys due in May.  Fun, fun!

Saturday, March 2nd-We finally finished our taxes online.  It's nice to have them done, though ironically I received a corrected tax form two days later so I'll need to amend them.  Luckily it will result in more money back.  It's nice to add more to our savings that's for sure.  After doing some cleaning around the house we went grocery shopping together at Macey's, and made a meal for a sister in our branch.  I had an impression to text her a few days before to see how she was doing.  She was recently divorced and has a nine year old girl Ava.  She was actually in need of some help and was very grateful I text her.  She said she wasn't sure who to turn to or ask for help.  She is struggling financially, so I had our compassionate service leader organize some meals for her since she couldn't meet w/ the Branch President for a couple days nor get a food order.  She was out late on Saturday but we dropped off a meal for her.  Her and her daughter are coming to church now.  They also met w/ the missionaries and are working towards getting Ava baptized.

Sunday, March 3rd--I gave the lesson in Relief Society.  I used President Monson's talk from Priesthood session about treating others as they may become.  I think it went really well.  We had good participation.  I had a quick slide show of some people from around the world and their different cultures (including tatoos, piercings, cigarettes, etc) and just had them look at the pictures.  We then discusses what they have in common...they're all children of God.  I also had us watch a few minutes of "Uncle Ben" when he talked about that he believes we can change and that God included all of us in that statement.  If we all treated each other knowing our full potential, we'd definitely live in a different world than we do now.

After church we went up to Dave/Joann's house and had dinner w/ Stacie/Phill's family and Rob.  Rob was there watching their place and tending their dog Bailey while they were on vacation.

Thursday, March 7^th—we put Nyles to bed a little early, then had Rob come over and sit at the house while we went out.  Our neighbor Melissa was having her birthday party at a skating rink.  It was fun to have a little “date night” and get out together.  It was fun skating/roller blading and visiting others from the branch. We stopped and got a Slurpee on the way home and got Rob a large soda.

Sunday, March 10th--was Daylight Savings.  It's also been a little rough w/ daylight savings and losing an hour of sleep per say.  Though I'm definitely glad we have more daylight in the evening when I get home from work.  Ironically Nyles has been sleeping in a little longer w/ Daylight Savings.  After I feed him around 6am he's been going back to bed til 8:30am or 9am.  No complaints here though.  It's especially nice on the weekends so we can sleep in a little.  Steve is able to do a little more in the morning while he's still sleeping also.  He's been sleeping a little less during the day though, which makes sense, but thankfully he's still sleeping well in the evenings.  He’s really been loving to go outside and go on a walk now that its been warmer and sunnier outside.  Not sure if it’s connected but with the increase in walks he’s also not been napping as much.  So maybe he’d rather sleep more in the morning so he can play longer during the day ;)

Monday, March 11^th—I decided to take the day off.  Since I had it off we decided to go the chiropractor, both Steve and I needed an adjustment.  We then took Nyles to the Dr to do a weight check.  He didn’t gain much last time so they just wanted to make sure he was coming back up.  Luckily he had almost gained a pound in the last month so they said just keep going what we’re doing.

Tuesday, March 12th--Nyles is officially 7 months old.  He is such a joy to us and makes us smile every day.  We are so blessed to have him in our family.  Every night before we go to bed we go check on him and make sure he’s doing ok.  We then say, “Oh he’s so cute!”  He cracks us up with his little mannerism.  So cute!

Nyles loves to spend time in his bouncy saucer just bouncing and playing with the toys.  He is now very consistent on rolling over.  He loves to go from his back to his belly and play for a while, but hasn’t quite figured out how to roll back from his belly.  He also likes to make funny noises with his mouth, like farting noises.  Every day when I get home from work he reaches out to me to give me a hug per say and then puts his mouth on my cheek and kinda slobbers on me…I guess it’s his attempt at giving me kisses.  He doesn’t really do this to Steve though, I think because he has whiskers on his cheeks.

Thursday, March 14^th—Steve and I were able to go to the temple.  We had our neighbors Dave/Melissa come over after we put Nyles to bed.  We were planning to go to Jordan River to do a session, but after stopping to get a bite to eat we were going down 13^th East and missed our turn.  So since we were now headed towards the Draper temple we decided to just go there and do initiatories since they don’t have rental clothes.  It’s so nice/convenient to have so many temples close by to choose from.  It was really nice to go to Draper since we haven’t been there in a while.  Initiatories were also slow, so I’m glad we decided to do that and help in that way.  Since we went through pretty quick, we then stopped at Dairy Queen and got a blizzard.  They have a special right now where you buy one and get one for .99.

Friday, March 15^th—Steve took Nyles w/ the canyon w/ Zach.  I guess he fell asleep along the way, so Steve and Zach took the opportunity to do a little fly fishing.

I also made Nyles some baby food this last week.  So far we’ve made carrots, bananas, sweet potatoes and avocados.  He’s been a little picky about them, but after watering them down a great deal he’s done a lot better.  I guess the texture just wasn’t right to him.  I’m sure that’ll change in time.  He really likes bananas and peaches.  I've been mixing some fruits with his veggies and he's been just happy to eat them as well.

Friday, March 15^th—after work we had my mission companion Britney Graham and her husband Joe come over. We finished putting Nyles to bed then the boys went and got Café Rio for Britney and I and pizza for them.  We then just hung out and got caught up.  They are expecting their first baby, a boy, in about 6-7 weeks.  They are also trying to buy their first home, which is causing a little stress but hopefully will be worth it.

Saturday, March 16^th—Steve went to help his brother Jeff move the last few things to their storage unit and the rest to Dave/Joann’s house where they’ll be staying until mid-July when their new house is done being built.  It was nice outside so Nyles and I went on a walk to the nearby stores. It was fun and so nice to be outside in the sun!  When Steve got home we played Bocce w/ our neighbors Dave/Melissa.  For dinner I made tin foil dinners, and then since I was slicing things I decided to make an apple pie w/ crumb topping for Steve.  Steve said I could make him an apple pie any time I wanted ;)

Sunday, March 17^th—Nyles slept in after I fed him at 6am, so naturally we got to sleep in too.  It was really nice needless to say.  I then had our Branch Council Meeting at 9:30am.  Steve met me at the church an hour later so I could feed him before sacrament started.  Church went well.  We then went over to LuDean’s house for dinner w/ most of Steve’s family.  It was fun to see everyone.

Monday, March 18^th—stayed home from work, wasn’t feeling well in morning but then started feeling better.  Nyles went back to bed til 9 after I fed him at 6am, so we got to sleep in which was nice.  Went for a walk to some stores close by then Steve took the Jeep up to get the oil changed.  I then met him up there and we went to Joann’s house to give her her birthday card, but somehow it fell out as I was leaving the house w/ Nyles in the stroller.  So, we’ll just have to stop by again ;)  We then came back and played Bocce for a little while since Nyles fell asleep on the way home.  I then fed Nyles and we went out to Red Robin for dinner.  He was just happy and content sitting there, which was great.  He was pretty tired by the time we got home so we started getting him ready.  He’s been doing pretty good w/ solids, but has only liked bananas lately.  So I went ahead and mixed them together (bananas, carrots and sweet potatoes) and he ate them just fine.  I guess I’ll just have to sneak his veggies in ;)  After feeding he took a bath, nursed him and he went right down.  He was so tired.

Yesterday Steve picked me up at work then we went over to Chuck-o-rama.  He picked me up in the Jeep since our Corolla had a flat tire. and met Dave, Joann, Stacie and her kids, and Kim and her kids (Phill and Jeff went to take pictures over night).  We had dinner together then went back to Dave and Joann's to watch "The Hobbit."  Kim had her kids to bed by the time we got there (they're living w/ Dave/Joann now until their house is built).  I brought Joann back w/ me while Steve went w/ Dave to pick up the Corolla at the trax station.  We then gave Nyles a bath and then put him down to bed in a pack-n-play.  Zach Hannay also came over and watched.  It was fun, but a little long (3 hours), so it was pretty late by the time we got home and we were rather tired.  It was still a fun evening though!

Steve had Spring Break this week also, so it's been nice to have him home at night.  We've been able to go on walks when I get home from work and actually have dinner together.  I know him taking night classes is only temporary, but I'll be glad when he's done with them.  
   We'll we're getting excited to come up to my parent's place for Easter next weekend.  I've got a couple days off so we'll enjoy having more time up there.  Have a great week until then!
