First week of February

We've had a lot of fun so far in February.  Here are some highlights from the first week of February.

Carrie's birthday was February 1st and she wanted to paint pottery together w/ the girls.  Dave and Joann picked me up after work and we headed up to "As You Wish Pottery" place in Farmington.  Dave dropped us off, we picked out something to paint, and got started.  Since I have never painted pottery before, I decided to do a small fish for Nyles.  It was fun to get out for a night w/ these wonderful ladies.  Thanks for the fun!

The fish I painted for Nyles before firing it in the kiln.

All done.  I guess I missed going over a couple spots again.
Each time you paint it, it gets darker.  Live and learn :)

Steve thought this year for his mom's birthday he could give her some "light".  Since he's had a lot of practice putting in can lights in our house, he thought he could do the same for their living room.  So with the help of his siblings pitching in, he made it happen.  Steve was so excited to put them in, he couldn't wait until March for her birthday.  So we ordered the lights and he got to work.  He got them done in just a couple days.  He did a GREAT job!  Good work Steve!

Getting the placement for the can lights.

Starting to drill the holes.

Carter wanting to join in on the fun.

Can lights in.

Making one last adjustment, and lights on!

Yeah for lights!

Joann and Dave said they're enjoying the lights, especially in the dark winter months.

Steve took the boys to the Aquarium.  They now have a butterfly exhibit, which is pretty cool.
Carter and Nyles in the butterfly exhibit.

Carter loves going up so he can go down the slide.

Nyles helping Carter w/ a bigger slide.

Carter pointing at the fish.

The first Saturday in February Steve went ice fishing w/ his dad and Duane Bates up at Strawberry.
They caught a few and had a lot of fun.

While Steve was out fishing, I took the boys to the library, then to the park for a walk.
It was a nice sunny day, so it was great to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

Carter and Nyles loving the swings.

Back at home playing in the garden aka dirt box for the boys' trucks and to dig in.

Cute boys playing in the dirt.

Carter found a trash can and thought it was a helmet ;)

I sent Nyles to time out for something and Carter went and sat by him.  Cute boys!

Rest of January

Here are the rest of the highlights from January.  It was a fun eventful month.

Nyles pretending to be a reindeer at school. Carter watching the people across the hall from our family dinner night (at the clubhouse where Carrie/Ryan live).

Steve and Nyles playing some football before dinner.

Playing a "Minute to Win It" game after dinner.

Nyles taking a turn.

Carter and Nyles chasing each other with the broom/dustpan.

Full circle now, into the kitchen.  Cute Carter in the bath.

Carter enjoying a smoothie, and wanting to eat the turkey before we get out of the store.

At the playground while Steve and Nyles are ice fishing.
Carter loves the slides and swings.

And since it's been sunny weather, we've enjoyed more time outside in the yard too.
Carter loves being outside!

Carter fascinated watching the cars go down the ramp.

Steve cooked up the fish they caught while ice fishing.  Though Steve doesn't like to eat the fish, Nyles likes it every so often.

Though Carter was doing really well in nursery in December, once we switched times to 1pm church in January, Carter has been wigging out to go there.  We're not sure if it's the later time and he's tired since it's nap time, or if he's now experiencing "stranger danger."  Either way, it's been a little difficult the past month getting him to go to nursery.  I'm sure he'll get better again, hopefully soon.

Cute Carter eating snacks in nursery.

Carter loves to climb on top of Steve any time he's laying down playing w/ the boys.

Nyles LOVES the dentist.  He literally kept waking up during the night, coming into our room, to ask if it was time to wake up so he can go to the dentist.  It was worse that Christmas Eve!  He cracks us up!  Since we're paying for the dental insurance (family plan), we figured we my as well as have Carter go too.  Nyles has been going to a pediatric dentistry the past couple years, and he does really well, so we thought Carter would too.  They let the kids dress us while getting their teeth checked.  Carter didn't have nearly as much fun as Nyles did at the dentist.

Carter and Nyles at the dentist.
Nyles was so excited to be there and to be dressed up as a fireman.

Carter wanted to sit at the dinner table like a big boy.

Nyles just having fun w/ the pillows and cushions.

Cute Carter sleeping away.

So Steve was finishing up our half bathroom update when he went out in the garage to get the hacksaw to trim the bolts on the toilet.  As Steve was out in the garage, Carter shut the door behind him and then locked the door.  Steve was supposed to go pick up Nyles in about 15 minutes from Kindergartern, and he didn't have his keys nor phone on him.  He tried to talk Carter into unlocking the door, but of course he didn't really understand him.  Steve then went around to the glass sliding door in the back to see if Carter could unlock that door, but to no luck.  In desperation Steve grabbed a sledgehammer and broke through the door.  He said Carter was standing there w/ a scared look on his face and wood shavings in his hair.  Needless to say, we had to get a new door that night, and Steve finally hid extra keys in the garage and outside, for when we need to get inside and don't have keys. :)

The door next to the garage Steve broke through.

Carter and Nyles playing at the library while Steve was ice fishing.

We then walked over to feed the ducks.

When we got back Steve and Dave were there.  They didn't have much luck fishing.  Carter was excited to have Steve home.  He loved jumping in the puddles!

Nyles fish tank w/ more plants and fish.  After Guppy the Beta fish died, Steve took Nyles to get other fish for his tank.  They also got a 2 live plants to add.

Carter wearing Steve's shoes.
Cute Nyles and Carter.  Nyles giving Carter a ride on the walker.

The last of our snow in the backyard.  The kids had to play in it of course!

Steve is auditing an Anatomy class at SLCC this semester, on Monday and Wednesday nights.  He also has Young Men's on Tuesday nights.  He's a little busy, but we're making it work.  He's planning to apply to the Sonography Program at SLCC next month.  We're praying he gets accepted and starts the program in the fall.

Steve was released from teaching Primary w/ me.  I now teach Nyles' class, CTR 5.  There are 2 other sisters teaching the class w/ me, so we rotate who teaches.  Nyles said he enjoys having me be his teacher.  So far so good.  I enjoy being able to teach him also, and see him light up learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The children are so precious, especially our own.  There is a reason we all learn "I am a Child of God" as one of our first songs in Primary.  It really is the most important message we can learn.  We truly are children of God.
