First full week of May

Here are some highlights from the first full week of May.

The boys sitting up in the Lego room. Our pretty Irises are in bloom in all their many colors!

Cute Hudson playing ball w/ Piper.

Tuesday night, Steve and the young men went to a driving range, owned by a guy in our ward.  They had a good time.  While they were gone, I made a sourdough loaf w/ cinnamon chips inside.

Wednesday morning, I flew out to San Diego for a work conference.  We stayed at the InterContinental, right across the street from the USS Midway ship and cruise port.

After we landed, we grabbed some lunch at the restaurant in the hotel, then we started at 2pm.  That evening we walked across the street to the USS Midway ship.  We had dinner up on top of the ship.  There were veterans also up on top who gave us history lessons about the catapult system getting the planes off the ship and landing them on the ship.  It was really interesting.

An airplane on the ship.  Pretty sunset.

Cool views from my room, looking at the USS Midway.  Some of the people on my team.

The next morning, the Disney Wonder was in port.  It was there most of the day, then took off around 5pm that night.  A few of us on my team went for a walk at lunch and enjoyed the view.  There was also a pirate ship down by the cruise ships, which was fun.

Thursday night Nyles had his last band concert.  Thankfully, I was able to join on the YouTube channel and watch them perform.  They have improved significantly!  Good work Nyles!  Dave and Joann were able to go as well, and Diane/my parents were able to watch online as well.  Thanks everyone for your support.  We really appreciate it.

Nyles performing, playing his flute.

Picture afterwards.  Good work!

Thursday night we had our team dinner at a Mexican Restaurant.  We told the waitress that it was someone on our team's birthday coming up, so they came and sang Happy Birthday to him.  It was pretty fun!

We then took a walk together as a team around Old Town.  Ironically all the shops were completely shut down, so we were the only people out on the streets.

Friday morning, I packed up, ready to head home.  There was a bug on my window that morning.  We were done around 10am, so a few of us took a walk.  Our flight was then at 2pm to go back to SLC.

Group picture before we left, the SLC MSC Team, back row: Matt Heiner, Andrew Klindt, Eldon Kearl, Tyler Hatch, Ron Claassen, Shaun Wilson, Christian Marinos.  Front: our manager Ryan Skelly, Bill Mechling, me, Cullen White, Hailey Meihls, Chris Roach, Dillon Slaugh, and Staff Hoare.

Steve has been working hard and moving our fence back so we can put in an RV pad to put our camper trailer.  While they were out working on it, Hudson heard bees.  Sure enough they were up in neighbor's tree.  They stayed there through the next morning, then took off.

Saturday, we got together at Pauline's for lunch to celebrate Mother's Day.
Quick family picture on Sunday, Mother's Day.  Another pretty Iris.

Cute cards from Hudson and Carter on Mother's Day :)

More beautiful Irises in bloom around the yard, and a Dianthus.

Pretty flowers, cute Hudson!

We're so thankful for our mothers, grandmothers, and all the wonderful women in our lives.  We love you all!  Thank you for your great examples!

Great quotes:
