2nd Half of May

We definitely kept busy the rest of May.  We were getting ready for our kitchen cabinets to get installed.  We also worked a lot on our yard.  Here are some pics.

The boys eating some lunch.

Our nice neighbor Carolyn gave us their extra mulch to use.
Nyles standing in front of the mulch we piled into the trailer.

Our flowers starting to bloom.  Nyles and Carter watering the flowers while we worked on putting the new mulch in place.

Our peaches coming in.

And our pears.

Nyles playing w/ our phone camera.

Another pic from Nyles of our front yard.

While were out working on the yard mulch, Nyles went around and took pics of the flowers.  They were surprisingly really good!  Here are the pics he took.

We went to a new park, Wheaton Farm Park (themed like a farm since there used to be a real farm there).  Carter loves the slides, especially now that he can do it on his own.

Steve w/ Carter on the tire swing.  Nyles trying it by himself.

Carter driving the tractor.

Carter and I going down the slide from the barn.

Nyles climbing up a pipe ladder.

Nyles playing on a barrel.

Nyles driving the tractor now.

Nyles, Carter and I on the tire swing.

Our Irises bloomed this year next to the barrels.  So pretty.

The new brown mulch too.

Good thought.

On Sunday, May 20th we were able to attend the dedication of the Jordan River Temple.  Rose and her girls wanted to attend (since their stake wasn't doing it), so we were able to get them tickets.  When Rose got to our place Steve and I left for the noon session.  Carter was still asleep for a while, so Nyles just played w/ his cousins.  When we got done we came home, then Rose and the girls went to the 3pm session.  Pauline went to the 9am one as well at her Stake Center.  We discussed the differences in the sessions, but overall they were all really good of course.  The Spirit was really strong in each session.  I love the temple and the feeling you get while inside.  We are so blessed to have the temples so close.  We're grateful the Jordan River Temple is back open.  Steve and I were married there 9.5 years ago.  We love that temple and plan to go back once the rush slows down a little.  After all the sessions were over, Pauline and her family came over to have dinner and celebrate Rose and Ava's birthday.  It was fun to get together!

Singing Happy Birthday to Rose and Ava.

The next day Steve worked on getting our can light in above the sink and finished the drywall.

He took a break as well and took the boys fishing at a local pond.

Nyles held his own fishing pole the whole time!

They even caught some little fish!

Cute little fish.

Nyles and Carter enjoyed a day of fishing.

We took out all the cabinets and appliances in anticipation of getting our new ones.
It sure looked strange w/out anything in there.

All ready to go.  The new tile sure looks good though!

Thursday, May 24th they brought in our new cabinets and started installing them.

Carter and Steve just being silly.

Making progress on installing the cabinets.

I was at work that day, but made it over to the temple during my lunch to go do initiatories.  I was able to do one family name for Joann as well.  I was a nice break from work.  I should try that more often since I'm only 4 blocks away from the temple.

Nyles and Carter love to pretend to drive the car.

I took Friday, May 25th off so I could help w/ the boys while we got our cabinets installed.  It warmed up so we got the pool out for the first time this year.  The boys had a lot of fun playing w/ the buckets and squirt guns.

Nyles and Carter playing in the water.

Having fun w/ the water!

We grilled up chicken sausages and had watermelon out on the patio.
Our garden is growing, especially the Romaine lettuce.

Once Sophie was home from school she came over to play in the pool.

Nyles showed Sophie where they went in the zoo the day before.  His whole Kindergarten class got to go to the Hogle Zoo on Thursday.  He said they had a lot of fun.

We also kept busy by washing the windows.

And doing laundry.  Carter thinks it's so fun to watch the washer go round and round.

Finishing up the last of the cabinets.

Almost done!

And they're done!  I spent the next couple days cleaning and putting things away.

It was Memorial Day Weekend, so on Monday Steve took Nyles to Cabela's.
They had a fishing pond set up, so Nyles had to try fishing.

He caught a fish and finished the rest of the tasks, then got a flashlight wristband.

More swimming and eating outside, thank goodness for BBQ grills when your kitchen is being worked one.  It's sure come in handy, along w/ the InstantPot.

Carter and Nyles just wrestling.  Carter thinks it's fun to sit on Nyles.

We also went over to the park and fed the ducks.

More beautiful Irises on the backside of the house.
;pThis was the first time they bloomed as well.

Carter and Nyles enjoying a Popsicle on the porch.

Our new orange Lily flowers w/ the new brown mulch.

We moved some of the Dianthus flowers over to the back yard.

Another Lily we planted, and the purple Iris.

We got another American Flag to hang up (since our other one got torn on the rain gutter).
Steve managed to get our microwave put back up, yeah!

He also put the under lighting below the cabinets.  The extra light is awesome!  Now we just need the handles, counter-top and sink put in; we can't wait.  Having running water in the kitchen is such a convenience.  I sure do miss being able to do dishes, wash our hands, or rinse things off.  We are definitely looking forward to getting the rest of our kitchen put back.

We had to put our names and the date next to the 1st owners under the cabinets.

I've been working on organizing our pantry and cabinets.  Storage containers sure help a lot.

We love our hummingbird feeder.  We see them come get a drink all throughout the day, especially in the morning and evening.  Nyles pushing Carter in the stroller.  We went for a family walk.

The boys "helping" Steve dig a hole for a new sprinkler line.

We went for a walk the next day to Nyles' school to play on the playground.
Nyles pulling Carter in the wagon, and Steve holding Carter on a swing.

Nyles going down the wall and Carter going down the slide w/ me.

While Steve was cleaning out the car, he decided to turn Carter's car-seat around, since he'll be 2 this week!  Needless to say Carter loves facing forward!  He loves to say "Mama" or Dada".  It's so cute.

Flashback of Steve when he was little.

And one of him, Carrie, Dave, Jeff and Dave's dad George in his wood-shop.

And this pretty much summarizes Steve to a T.

We've had a fun, yet busy May.  Who's excited for Summer?
