First a flashback: My first trip up to the cabin in June 2008. We finally held hands as we were almost to the cabin, Steve and I became "exclusive," and we had our first kiss there. It was a busy weekend, haha. :) I love this picture.
And of course fishing on the boat and crepes. Steve always finds a way to make me smile. And even though I didn't realize it then, that is one of the things I love most about him :)
On the first Sunday, Pauline called shortly after we got home from church and said her power was out. We invited her over to our place so they could stay cool since it's so HOT outside and their A/C wasn't working w/out power. They then followed us over to LuDean's house for our family dinner.

Steve finally got a boat to go fishing, and more importantly, for duck hunting this Fall. It's 12 feet long and is supposed to not be able to tip over. It was in our living room for a week and Nyles LOVED every minute of it! He played like he was hunting or fishing or just about anything. I think he was just about as excited for it as Steve was.
Rob got the same boat the week after. They kept them in our backyard for a while too.

One Tuesday afternoon, Steve went up to Stacie/Phill's house to help lay sod.

Steve took the boys up to the cabin w/ his parents overnight one Friday evening so I could study. It was a perfect opportunity to wean Carter from nursing as well. It was a rough night for Steve, but Carter has done well ever since. He sometimes needs a sip of milk during the night, but he's been pretty consistent sleeping through the night now. Yeah!!! It's always good to get sleep again.

When they got back that Saturday, Steve dropped Carter off to take a nap, then took Nyles to the Scottish Festival w/ the rest of his family.

My old roommate from college, Leslie Hamilton, came to visit. We met each other in one of our first classes at Snow College, accounting. We had a lot of the same classes from then on since she was studying Business Education and I was studying General Business. We then were roommates our 1st year up at Utah State.
She came to SLC for a teacher's conference. She came over for dinner Sunday night and ended up staying at our place the next 2 nights. Her conference was in Lehi so it was only 20 minutes away from our place. She recently went through a divorce unfortunately. It was great to catch up and laugh like we did in college though. She lives in St. George so we'll have to see her again soon when we head that way.

Conor and Nyles at their Upstart Graduation. Nyles has done a great job this past year doing it. He was to do it 15 minutes a day, every day, which he did. Though he struggled sometimes, he still endured and did a great job. He learned a lot and is ready for Kindergarten now!

We bought some furniture from Melanie since they were moving, plus some decorations. End tables, pictures, lamps, and plants from her.

We rearranged some pictures w/ the new stuff. Lamp, plant and end table from her also. With the extra furniture pieces and decorations the formal living and dining room is finally starting to fill in and come together. We appreciate the Lakes giving us most of the stuff.
Steve has been busy w/ our house and yard, plus keeping up w/ the boys everyday. He also just got called to help with the Young Men's. He's still teaching Primary (ages 11 going on 12) with me during 2nd hour, but then going to Young Men's for 3rd hour. He's mainly to help with the 14 year old boys, Teacher's Group. They have him teaching today already, and helping to plan their 2 day overnight camp out next month. Steve is doing a great job in both of his callings and you can tell they appreciate having someone w/ more "outdoors-man skills" in the Young Men's Program.
We just finished the 2nd quarter at work and 1st half of the year at work. Things have gone pretty well but now we're staring to transition into what it will be like in 2018. DOL (the Department of Labor act) went into affect June 9th and all Financial Firms must be in compliance by January 1st latest. We will see what changes will come for us in the next 6 months. I've finished my CFP practice exams and review class. My plan is to do it all again before taking the real exam in November.
