Cabin Trips

Since going Elk hunting, Steve has been wanting to go hunting some more.  Since Elk season is past he's now wanting to go duck or coyote hunting.  He's been going up to the cabin the first three weeks of November.  Two of the three I went with him.  The first weekend we invited a couple who used to live in the branch w/ us, Greg and Lisa Morris and their little girl Brinley.  She is just a couple weeks younger than Nyles so it was fun to watch them play together.  We left Friday night and stopped in Heber for dinner.  There is now a Cafe Rio up there so we of course stopped there.  We sat and ate our dinner then headed up.  Of course it was really dark and cold by the time we got up there, but we managed.  Steve and Greg got the water from the pump (since the water has been turned off now), and we turned on the heaters in the rooms and started a fire.  It sure was cold, but still fun.  The next morning Steve and Greg went out to hunt coyotes but didn't get any.  Lisa and I just hung out at the cabin since it was pretty cold.

Nyles just playing, enjoying life.

Looking cute in his camo pants like dad.

That afternoon we walked down to the gully.  Nyles thought it was fun to climb up the rocks.

We took it easy that afternoon since it was cold outside.  The next morning we went to church at the Fruitland Branch, then went back, packed up and came back home.  It was nice to have a relaxing weekend and just take it easy.

The second time we went to the cabin we invited up a couple that lives close to us, Dave and Melissa Thomas and Rob came as well.  We picked up Rob in our car then headed up to the cabin.  We stopped in Heber again, this time we called ahead for Cafe Rio and ended up eating it once we got there.  Like last time it was cold and dark when we got there, so he hurried and got the heaters plugged in and fire started.  We watched a movie after putting Nyles to bed.

The next morning Steve, Rob and Dave went out duck hunting and got a couple little ones.  They cooked them up in a tin foil for lunch.  They said it wasn't too bad.  Steve and Rob got 5 or so the weekend before but hadn't tried them yet.

It snowed the whole day Saturday basically, and then some Sunday.  It's definitely looking more and more like winter up there.  After their morning hunt they stayed inside where it was warm.  We played some games and watched a couple movies.  Nyles did great napping and sleeping thankfully.

"Testing" the battery tester as we're packing up to leave.  We left that morning after breakfast in order to get back for church.  Steve has been busy w/ tithing settlements in the clerks office, and that afternoon we had our tithing settlement.  We truly have been blessed this year.
