Friday, August 30th, I took off so go up earlier and overall just spend more time together. We had been wanting to go to the temple all week, but since Steve has classes every night except Friday it makes it a little difficult. Since we couldn't check into our condo at Bear Lake until 4pm anyway we decided to take turns going to the temple and doing initiatories. Surprisingly the Jordan River Temple was REALLY busy at 9am, even in the initiatiories. It was still really neat to be there and feel the Spirit. After I went we switched and Steve went to the temple. While he was gone I packed up and got ready to go. We then headed out by 2pm or so and made good time. The roads were clear and mostly not too busy. We then stopped in Logan to pick up a few last things before heading up to Bear Lake.

After we got up to Bear Lake we found the management office and got our keys/pool key. We then found our condo and unloaded. Since it was getting kindof late, we then decided to go swim for a little while. The pool was a little cool, but we all got used to it after a little bit. No one else was in the pool so it was a lot of fun. Nyles LOVES the water, especially when Steve pushes him around like a train.
We then got Nyles ready for bed, but he was so excited to be at this new place that he wouldn't really settle down to go to bed. We knew he was tired so we put him in his car-seat then drove down the road a few minutes and he was out. It worked out nice since we were able to see where the North Beach was located and the Minnetonka Cave, both on the Idaho side. Stacie/Phill were also up at Bear Lake w/ their 2 kids, but were at the KOA campground just a block or so from our place. We put Nyles down in a pack-n-play at the feet of our King size bed. He did pretty well until about 5pm, then he woke up and saw us and got all excited like it was time to play. I held him out on the couch for a while and tried to get him back to sleep and finally after an hour or so he went back to bed, in his car-seat/stroller of course. Silly kid.
The next morning, Saturday, August 31st, we met Stacie/Phill at our parking lot then headed up to the North Shore in Idaho, which was maybe 10-15 minutes away. We then got set up on the beach and let the kids play in the sand/water. It was really nice since the water is so shallow for a LONG ways. Nyles and Conor could actually crawl in it and not even have a problem. Nyles loved just sitting in the sand or water and playing w/ the sand buckets and toys. Conor also liked eating the sand especially. Stacie said he would eat the dirt at their campsite also, silly kid. The weather was perfect and the water wasn't too cold. Everyone really enjoyed it.

We took a quick lunch break after a bit. We had planned to go back to our condo for lunch so we didn't really pack anything, but Stacie/Phill were kind enough to share their sandwiches and snacks w/ us.

After that we ended up taking Nyles back home to take a nap. Phill also put Conor in their car and took him on a ride in order to allow him to sleep. Stacie stayed at the beach w/ London to let her keep playing. Nyles slept for a good 2 hours, which was good since he usually gets 2 naps in every day. After he woke up we went back to the beach and played some more.

We then decided to make dinner together. We had planned on making spaghetti w/ French Bread and veggies. They were planning to have Chicken Alfredo, so we did both! As we were getting dinner ready Stacie bathed London and Conor in our tub, then Stacie/Phill took turns taking a shower (their place at the KOA was really busy for the showers). After dinner we all headed back to their campsite and made s'mores together. It was a lot of fun!

After some s'mores we headed back towards our place. Nyles was starting to fall asleep again in his car-seat so we decided just to drive a little bit longer. After a few minutes we then came back and took him inside and put him right down in the pack-n-play. That night we decided to sleep out on the pull out Queen bed in order to try and get some more sleep. The King bed was also really soft, which we're not used to, so the more firm Queen was surprisingly more comfortable to us. We all slept much better that night and Nyles slept the whole night through. Yeah!
Sunday, September 1st we went to the local ward in Garden City at 9am. It was PACKED to say the least. We finally found some seats in a Sunday School classroom. Literally the whole chapel, gym, the classrooms, along w/ the halls and even kitchen were all full of people. Nyles was pretty restless so Steve took him out in the hall and walked around w/ him after the sacrament. After sacrament meeting/testimony meeting we left. We then changed, got Nyles a quick snack, then headed up w/ Stacie/Phill back up to Idaho to the Minnetonka Cave.

The cave was pretty cool, even though Steve and I don’t really like caves. But since it was a bigger cave, and guided we figured we’d give it a try. It was better than we though, but we both agreed that when they turned off the lights, then left them off for a few minutes it was not cool. Nyles didn’t like it either; he started fussing when the lights were out. The tour guide told us that after like 20 weeks or something in complete darkness your eyes will actually start working and you won’t be able to see anymore. Crazy huh? After turning the lights out we worked our way back out of the cave. Along the way Nyles fell asleep all cuddled up in the backpack and his warm jacket. Silly boy J

After the caves we headed back to the condo and got some lunch. We then had Stacie/Phill come over and we went swimming at our pool. Ironically the water was a little cooler than it was Friday night, but we still swam for a little while. We left a little earlier though because there were swaps all over. They actually were making a nest up on the building and some were coming down by the pool. Someone notified the management company and they came out to spray them. When we saw that, we decided it was time to go. We didn't want anyone to get stung. We then went back into our place, where London and Conor took another bath while we all changed. They then went back to their place for dinner. We weren't really hungry at this point so we decided to go check out a playground we saw close to the church. On the way Nyles feel asleep again, cute little boy. As we were pulling into the parking lot next to the playground we saw a sign that said there was a boardwalk to the lake. Since Nyles was asleep anyway we decided to walk down to the beach. It was a pretty walk and the weather was beautiful.

Since Nyles was so sleepy anyway, we decided to stop by to visit Stacie/Phill a little early (15 minutes), and it was on the way back to our place. We were going to do s'mores again, so Steve helped get the fire going again while Nyles and Conor played in the dirt together ;) The s'mores were great and the company was even better. It was great just relaxing and enjoying the evening.

After the s'mores we headed back and put Nyles to bed. Surprisingly he went right down. Steve and I then had some popcorn and watched some TV together. The next morning Nyles got up at about 7am like normal. We didn't have to check out until noon, but since it was going to rain and there was a marathon that was going to take place, we decided to head out. So we packed up and were heading out just after 8:30am. We stopped by Stacie/Phill's place just to make sure they didn't need some help. They pretty much had everything packed up but we decided to take a few things of theirs so they could have more room in their car. We then dropped off our key at the office, then headed back down the canyon. It was a beautiful drive. I've missed seeing it when attended Utah State. It's such a beautiful area! The clouds were really cool sitting over the mountains.

We stopped in Logan to get gas, in Centerville at Stacie/Phill's to drop off their stuff, then at a store so I could use a bathroom. When we got home we unpacked then put Nyles down for a nap. After he woke up we went to a pond in Draper and Steve fished for a little while. He even caught one. We then stopped at Ream's and got a few groceries and had a BBQ to celebrate Labor Day.
