First full week of August

I can't believe it's August already.  Where has the Summer gone?  It always seems to go so fast.  Here are some highlights from the first week of August.

Monday, August 5th, Steve went back to Lagoon w/ the boys.  They picked up Diane on the way and met Kim, Alexa, and Cameron there.

Carter and Nyles decided to try Catapult!  Cameron and Kim also did it.

Nyles and Carter on the Catapult ride at Lagoon.

Steve and Nyles chopped more of the firewood they cut down before.  Tuesday after work, we went to the chiropractor.  The boys gave Steve a massage before his adjustment.

Later they went over to our neighbor's house, the Hamilton's, to see what their Lego room looked like.  They turned their attic space in a room for just Legos, and the Legos have to stay there.  We're considering doing the same thing.

On Wednesday, Steve and the boys went up near Kamas to scout out where elk might be, in anticipation for the elk hunt in September.  They hiked around an area and found a good spot.

They put up the hammocks and had lunch.

Hudson fell asleep on the way back.  Steve carried him on his back the whole way.

We played some Croquet one night after dinner.  Piper jumped from our retaining wall and ripped her stitches out, so her wound came open.  We had to have the vet wrap her foot again, and they put her on another antibiotics to help heal it from the inside out.  Silly dog.  She can't help herself.  She wants to play, so the Vet told us to give her medication to make her sleepy so she can heal.  We're praying it continues to heal.

Hudson fell asleep on the floor after playing w/ his frog costume.  Silly Piper just loves to lick.  We let her take the cone off her as long as she doesn't lick her paw/foot.  Carter said she can lick him instead :)

We went swimming on Saturday.  We wanted to go to the outside pool in Draper, but there was lightening, so it was closed. We went to the inside one at Dimple Dell instead.

We had fun playing together, going around the lazy river, and the boys going down the slides.

Carter and Nyles passing the Hover Ball.

Nyles got a big Lego Technic Firefighter Aircraft set for his birthday w/ 1134 pieces.
He put it together in a couple days (with a little help from Steve).  Good work!

Sunday after church, we packed up and headed up to Trial Lake (I'll post about that next).

Great quotes about the Book of Mormon from our prophet, President Nelson.

Last of July, start of August- Sister's Week

We had an eventful week this past week, especially with my sisters.  Sunday, July 28th, after church, we finished packing up the last few things, then headed out to Bear Lake.  We met Pauline and Barb and their families there.  We ordered a kayak holder for the top of our car and were able to fit 3 kayaks now on top (one in between the holders), instead of just 2.  We then squeezed another adult kayak in the camper, and the kid kayak, so 5 kayaks total.

Kayaks on top of the Sequoia.  At "camp" ready to set up.  Carter and Hudson playing in the sand.  Hudson enjoying a snack.

Calley, Dallin and Abby made it!  Charlotte in the hammock.
Getting some dinner.  Carter playing in the sand.

Steve building a fire.  Getting s'more stuff ready.  Playing a game.

Barbara brought some games that especially entertained Hudson and Lincoln (like Croquet).  Thanks Barb!  Enjoying S'mores!

The kids building a "rocket" and more fire time, then bed!

The next morning getting breakfast.  Lincoln and Hudson building a "rocket" again.
Playing in the water.

Taking a ride on the kayaks.

So fun!

Taking a ride down the little river and playing in the sand (Dallin buried in it).

Building a "rocket" again, then playing Cornhole.

Taking another ride down the river w/ Calley, Steve and Hudson.

Getting tacos for dinner.  The boys made "roads" out of mud on the beach.

Cute Hudson playing w/ the Cornhole game.  Beautiful sunset.

So pretty.  Pauline's family left after dinner.
We made a fire and did s'mores again, then played 20 questions while around the fire.

We packed up and headed home Tuesday morning.

After unpacking at home, and I mowed the lawn, and we all showered, Barb and I went shopping at Sam's Club, then met Rose, Pauline and Anna at Applebee's for dinner.  Anna came down w/ her kids to go to Lagoon the next day.

Getting some dinner.  Youngest to oldest: Penny, Pauline, Anna, Barbara and Rose.

Silly pictures w/ sisters.  Tallest to shortest: Pauline, Anna, Rose, Barbara and Penny.
A picture reenactment from when we were younger.  Now I don't look so short ;)

While we were out to dinner, Steve took the kids up Little Cottonwood Canyon up to Snowbird for a nature walk.  Dallin, Hudson, Abby, Calley, Carter and Nyles.

On the way down they stopped at Lisa Falls.

Rob stayed at our house w/ Piper while we were gone up to Bear Lake.  Tuesday morning he took her into the vet to get her upper toe removed.  It's been infected for a long time.  She's taken 3 round of antibiotics, including 1 human one, and it still didn't get it, so this was the next option.  Steve picked her up that afternoon.  She needs to wear the cone so she doesn't lick her foot or try to take the bandage off.

Piper, after her surgery.  Abby and Calley making Perler bead creations w/ Hudson's help :)

Wednesday morning, Barbara decided she wanted to take the kids to Lagoon.  Anna and Rose were already planning on going, and since we have season passes this year, Steve took the boys also.

They had a lot of fun, though it was REALLY HOT!  Hudson cooling off in the water.

I had to work, but took the Frontrunner after work, and met up w/ them.  We picked up Panda Express for dinner, then continued on the rides.  Anna's girl Haley went around w/ us.

We talked Calley and Dallin into trying the white roller coaster.  They were both pretty scared, but did they it.  Calley said she didn't like it at all :(

We also got Dallin to try Colossus.  Then the kid dragon ride.

We then rode Cannibal.  Nyles and Calley are 6 weeks apart, and are pretty much the same height right now.  They'll both be turning 12 in the next 2 months.  We then rode the Ferris Wheel as our last ride.  Girls in one ride.

Boys in the other :)

Hudson catching a ride on the wagon on the way out.  We caught up w/ Anna on our way out so Haley could get back w/ her.  Her boys were off getting funnel cakes.

Barbara and the kids thought it would be fun to ride the Frontrunner home, so we did.  Calley and Hudson rode w/ Steve home.

The Frontrunner coming.  Barb, me, Abby, Carter, Dallin and Nyles on the Frontrunner home.
Calley ready for bed, petting Piper.

Thursday morning Barb, Steve, and the kids went to Mrs. Cavanagh's Candy factory for a tour.  Pauline met up w/ them there also.  I had to work again so I missed it.

The kids playing a game before heading out.  At the candy factory.

Peach and pear growing.  Pretty Rose of Sharon in bloom.

Pretty flowers in bloom around the house.

The kids got jaw breakers at the candy factory and Steve got me some yummy Carmel covered chocolates.  Steve and the boys went back to Lagoon Friday morning w/ Stacie/Kim.  They tried out Lagoona Beach.  Then that afternoon, they went up to the cabin.  Steve brought Conor home after Lagoon and took him to the cabin as well.  Dave met them up there.  That night I met Rose and Pauline to see the Nutty Professor play since Rose and free tickets.  It was super funny and was really good!  Thanks for the invite Rose!

Nyles w/ his jawbreaker.  Rose, Pauline and I at the play.
Carter lost another tooth while at the cabin.

Conor and Nyles playing w/ Lincoln logs at the cabin.  Carter w/ his dollar from the tooth fairy.  Hudson picked a flower for me :)

Saturday morning I met Pauline for a Pilates class.  Pretty flowers.

Saturday evening we took dinner over to Dave/Joann's.  Then we played Uno Dare.  Nyles had to do a little dance for us.

Hudson playing in the basket.  While at the cabin, they learned how to use the new firetruck.  They came home Saturday afternoon.  I cleaned the fridge out Saturday as it needed it badly.  We then had family dinner up at Stacie/Phill's place Sunday evening.  We sang Happy Birthday to Nyles, Hudson, Noah (August birthdays) and Conor (July).

It was a great week packed with many adventures, mostly w/ my sisters.  I'm thankful for the time we have to spend together as a family and w/ our extended family.
