2nd week of April

Here are some highlights from the 2nd week in April.

On Monday, April 8th, there was a solar eclipse.  Here in Utah we were only saw a 50% totality, but it was still cool.  The clouds were covering the sun most of the day, but thankfully it broke up, just in time to get covered by the moon.  Steve, Hudson, and I looked at it for a minute, then Steve got in the car and drove up to the Elementary school so Carter could see it.  Carter also got to see it during class time.  Nyles was on a field trip for a BizTown event downtown, but they still got to see it as well.

Later Hudson fell asleep on the way home picking up Nyles and Carter from school.

Tuesday evening, Carter and I got rode the trax train downtown to watch a Utah Jazz basketball game.  He got free tickets from playing Jr Jazz earlier.  He was pretty excited to go!

We were WAY up top, right in front of the stairs.  I was a little scared we'd fall, but thankfully we didn't ;)  We were right underneath the American flag.  The game was close, but they lost unfortunately.  We left at half time, since it was a school night.  Carter said he wants to go back again!

That same night Nyles went w/ the young men and played mini golf (another deacon Jace Brinkerhoff).

Wednesday, Hudson had his preschool gym class.

Later, they went to the Aquarium for a little bit.

Thursday after school, Steve picked up Dave (since he had a procedure and wasn't supposed to drive), and then picked up the boys from school, and went fishing at Deer Creek.

They had a great time.  Hudson loved watching the fish in the bucket.

They stopped to see Joann in Provo on their way back.  She was just moved down to this facility this week to continue to help her w/ her recovery.  

While they were gone, after work, I mowed the lawn, then took Piper for a walk.

Friday, Steve went and picked up more mulch.  We decided to put a new layer of mulch over ALL the yard.  Steve picked up 25 bags, then 75 bags, then another 17 bags!  It was cheaper buying individual bags vs in bulk w/ a sale going on at Lowe's.  Steve did the entire 105 feet retaining wall all by himself!

Friday evening we went over and helped clean the church (it was our week).  Steve also did church lock up the whole week.

Saturday, we all cleaned inside the house, then went outside to finish laying the mulch and clean up the yard further.  That afternoon Nyles went to a friend's birthday party, and Carter went and played at Colins's house.

1st Week of April/Kids' Spring Break

The first week of April the boys had their Spring Break.  I didn't take any time off work since we're leaving to Orlando in May for 1.5 weeks.  Here are some highlights of the week.

Steve took the boys to the Butterfly Museum Monday morning.  They found lots of pretty butterflies!

Then they stopped at the Farm for a while at Thanksgiving Point.

Dave asked if they wanted to go to lunch at Chuck-O-Rama, so they of course agreed.  The boys all said that is their new favorite restaurant ;)

After a day of play, the next day, Steve and the boys then worked to remove all the rocks from around our flower bed in the front lawn.

I came to check up on them during my lunch break.  They were making good progress.

Steve then started to make a new cement curbing around the flower bed.  The rocks made it tricky to mow around, plus the grass would grow in between the rocks and come into the flower bed, which drove us crazy.  After 2 days, Steve got it done!  Great job Steve!  I love it!

On Wednesday evening, I took Nyles went to martial arts while Steve went to visit his mom in the hospital.  Carter and Hudson played at a nearby playground while Nyles was at class.  We decided to withdrawal Carter at this time since they closed our Draper studio and he would take over another year to complete.  He wants to do something else; we're just not sure what yet.

On Friday, Steve met up w/ Stacie and her kids to go play at some parks in Bountiful.

Friday afternoon Nyles had his friend Lincoln come over for a little while.  We ordered pizza for dinner, then started watching the new Disney show called Wish.  We had seen it on the Disney cruise last November, but now it's on DisneyPlus.  We needed a few groceries though, so Steve and I decided to go to our Neighborhood Wal-Mart just down the street.  We took Hudson w/ us and left Nyles and Carter watching the movie.  

Steve and I were getting things to make chili on Sunday (onions, peppers, etc) when I heard, "Penny!"  I turned to see my friend Ali Bradshaw Fenlon from Snow College!  She was an Ambassador w/ me while at Snow College for 2 years.  Ironically she lives just down the hill in Draper, yet we've never crossed paths until then!  We chatted for quite a while, until both her daughter Amelia and Steve, were basically done grocery shopping.  Ali jokingly asked Hudson if he wanted to come home w/ her, and ironically he said yes!  He got out of the cart and went over and gave her and her daughter a big hug!!  He's such a silly kid!  He warms up to people generally pretty quickly, which is a strength he has.

Saturday and Sunday was General Conference.  We kept Nyles and Carter busy w/ General Conference word searches, then they got a treat afterwards.  Hudson kept busy w/ toys for some parts of it ;)

In between the Saturday afternoon session and evening one, we went over to the Aquarium for a little while, then to a store.  We then went home to make dinner.  Dave happened to stop by right then, so he joined us for a spaghetti dinner.  Sunday morning the Easter Bunny came.  He was a week late since we were gone last Sunday traveling back from Idaho.  The boys got Squishmallows (stuffed animals)

Sunday evening, we had Steve's family dinner at our house.  Steve and I each made a different batch of chili (different recipes), then Steve smoked it.  We then had an Easter Egg hunt in the backyard.

Last week of March

It's hard to believe that March has come and gone.  It went by rather quickly.  Here are some highlights from the last week of March.

We picked up our "new" 2016 Toyota Sequoia.  The car has what we were looking for: more room inside and it can pull our camper trailer even easier than our Honda Pilot.  We saved up and paid cash for it.  We're thankful not to have a payment.  A bonus is that it has a DVD player in it, or TVD as Hudson likes to call in.  We're all pretty excited!

We then sold Rob our 2013 Ford Edge.  He's been needing a car for a long time.  We just put on new tires, put in a new battery, only has 94k miles, and it has been really well cared for.

Steve smoked some yummy pulled pork for our family reunion.  Typical spring weather haha.

Nyles got an award for the most reading minutes in Amira.  Carter missed it by 1 minute :(.  Carter dressed up as Jack Sparrow for Disney Day at school.  I rode the train every day into work this week as it was our "connect week."  I'm good for 4 weeks thankfully :)

Friday at 4pm, after work and school, we drove up to Idaho.  The kids were happy to watch a movie on the DVD player in the car.  Since there is more room inside they didn't complain about being too close either.  Silly kids.  Saturday morning we went over to the church for our Hegerhorst Family Reunion.  It was great to see extended family.

We had about 100 people there!  Cousins: Daron, Anna, Rose, Mitch, Emily, Becky, Penny, Kris, Pauline, Corinne, Katie, Margie (Barb, Dexter and Ed were there but not in picture).  It was so great to see everyone and visit/catch up.  Until next time...

Sunday morning, Mom (Cathleen) and Dad (Grant) ready for church, we left to go home.  It was snowing from Burley to after Snowville.  We were glad to make it home safely.

We are so grateful for this time of year which we have to celebrate our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Christ lives! I'm so thankful for our Savior, for His Atonement for each and every one of us, His Resurrection, and knowing we will see our loved ones again. I'm grateful for this knowledge, and the peace it gives us.
