1st Week of August- 21st Week of Quarantine

We are officially into August!  It's exciting to have finally made it.  This means I'm closer to finishing work and when the baby will be here.  Here are some highlights.

Steve got a really big watermelon at Costco!

It was super yummy as well.  Good work Steve.  I can't get enough watermelon these days!

We found a bike for Nyles' 8th birthday!

They went over to show Dave/Joann and rode around their circle as well.

Old bike, new bike.  Nyles has definitely grown the past year!  His shoes and clothes also don't fit, so we had to move him up to the next size.  Who said he could grow so much? 

Steve finished clearing out the fireplace debris, then got rid of the extra dirt, and made a specific space for the sandbox for the boys.  Close to the wall we're going to put more plants.

The boys went up to the cabin Thursday to Friday.  They ended up staying overnight to help finish staining the deck the next day.  Steve worked on the uprights of the railing.

Friday Stacie and the kids came up to help as well.  Conor and London Claire helping.

It was as little sunny and hot outside to say the least.

He got his new set of scriptures from Grandma and Grandpa Hegerhorst.

We picked up a kid's craft from Home Depot and worked on it together.

Working under the sun shade.  It definitely has helped make it so it's not as hot on the patio.

We had rope at first to hold the sun shade up, but then Steve read chains would keep the tension better, so he switched it.  He also put in the steel pipes behind the retaining wall and cemented them in.

5th Week of July- 20th Week of Quarantine

The last week of July was pretty busy, not to mention HOT!  We got over 100 degrees a couple days, like 105, 107.  Talk about hot!  We're definitely thankful for A/C during the Summer, and especially on hot days like those.

Steve officially finished up his clinical rotations!  He worked Monday and half day Tuesday, then went back in Friday morning to do his final "pass offs."  We are so thankful he was able to finish everything "according to plan" before the baby gets here!  It's been a busy 2 years but we made it!  He now will get all his paperwork submitted to get certified, then study for another test as the final thing.  He's worked really hard and done a great job.  We're proud of him!  He did have a job offer up at LDS Hospital, but due to Covid they cut back staff and his position went away.  He's now applying anywhere he can for PRN (as needed positions) like nights/weekends/holidays.  This way he can still be w/ the boys most of the time and still keep up on his "scanning skills."

I'm still working from home 100%, thankfully.  I enjoy working from home and do NOT miss the commute of 1 hour each way.  It's nice to be able to see the boys/Steve in between appointments and go play fetch w/ Piper for a few minutes as well.  I'm also able to do household chores (dishes, laundry, cleaning, etc) in between appointments and get dinner planned and made easier too.  

I am officially in my last month of pregnancy now, at 36 weeks.  Since Carter was over 9 lbs when he was born, we decided we didn't want to wait until the due date again, so we set an induction date the week before, on August 20th (Barbara's birthday).  We hope he waits until then since Nyles' 8th birthday is on the 12th and his baptism is set for the 15th.  I'm going to work through the 14th, then be off after that.  It would be nice to have a couple days before the baby comes to finish a few last minute things and also not worry about work ie relax a little. :)

We also found out that Nyles due immersion program (Spanish) is back on!  He got accepted back in April, then they said there wasn't enough kids to keep it going, then they reached out to the parent's in the district again and found out many hadn't heard about it, so now they have more than enough interest to do both schools and even have a wait list.  We're excited for Nyles and this opportunity he has to learn Spanish!

Carter's preschool teacher also decided to retire w/ everything happening w/ Covid, so we've been looking for another preschool for him to attend.  We decided to go w/ the one basically across the street from his previous one.  Like all schools, they're making a lot of adjustments due to Covid, but we feel he'll really enjoy it.  We showed him where it was located one night and he got really excited.  He then kept asking when he could actually start going to preschool, which is in a few weeks.  Both boys are ready to get back to some more "normal" activities, like school.  I think they could use a little break from each other as well.

We haven't been to the Aquarium since the pandemic started in March.  We finally decided to go again.  They require masks for everyone, and you have to reserve a spot to go so they don't have too many people in at once.  We decided to go Friday night just before they closed at 6pm.  Though the movie, playground and everything that you can normally touch was closed, it was still fun to see the animals and do something we "used to do" before the pandemic.

With the really hot heat the boys wanted to play in the water.  Steve decided to cool the boys off on the trampoline w/ the hose.  Piper enjoyed the water too. 

Saturday was Conor's baptism.  We attended w/ the family.  Everyone was required to wear masks of course, and only 20 people could attend.  It'll be the same for Nyles' baptism in a couple weeks.
