Cabin Trip

The weekend after the 4th of July we decided to take a quick trip up to the cabin.  We hadn't been up in a while, so we thought it would be fun to go up.  We went up Friday after work, then came home Saturday afternoon.  It was a quick trip, but still fun.  Stacie/Phill, Dave/Joann and Rob also came up.  Here are some pics.

Pretty sunset Friday night.

Dave didn't bring up the Tahoe since the A/C is broken, so we ended up using our Edge to pull the boat over to the marina and put it in the water.

Getting loaded on the boat.  Carter waiting to get on.

 Dave, Rob and Nyles.

Stacie, Phill and Conor on the boat.  Carter enjoying the boat ride.

Nyles looking for fish.  Steve driving the boat.

Cute Carter.  Rob behind me.

Back at the cabin getting a snack.

Unloading the boat.

Of course Nyles fell asleep on the way home, while eating popcorn.
I took the bag of popcorn out of his hand and he didn't even notice.  Silly kid!

Nyles' Swim Lessons

Nyles just finished swim lessons again.  It was 2 weeks long (4 days a week).  He did awesome!  Steve said he listened really well to his teacher.  It's amazing what another year does.  His teacher said the same thing and Nyles passed the next level of swim.  Great job Nyles!

Nyles on the right w/ his teacher and class.

Nyles sitting on the other side now.

Swimming back now.

Another day, doing awesome!

The last day they got to jump off the diving board.
Again Nyles did great and wasn't afraid this time to go.

 Ready to jump off.

 Here's a video of it.

Now going down the slide.

And again.

Last time swimming out by himself.

Trial Lake Fun

Yesterday, Steve was planning to go w/ his friend Rob Daniels up to Echo Canyon to play in their boats again and go fishing.  Steve's dad Dave heard they were going and asked to go as well.  Then Steve's mom said she wanted to go, but maybe we should go up into the Uintas instead.  After discussing, we all decided to go up to the Uintas, which is higher up in elevation, and escape the heat in the valley.  Jeff and Kim then heard we were going and decided to go as well.  We met up in Kamas, then I jumped in the back w/ the boys so Joann could ride w/ us, since both her and Dave have National Park passes.

Sittng by Carter, trying to keep him entertained the rest of the way up to the lake.

Steve driving w/ Joann in the passenger side seat.  Joann told us she used to come up here all the time w/ her family.  They also took Steve and his siblings for quite a while to go camping as well.  It brought back a lot of memories for both of them.

We got up there around 3pm and stayed until about 6pm.  It was 90 degrees in SLC and only 70 degrees up at the lake.  It was overcast at times as well.  The water was surprisingly not as cold as we thought.  It felt good to get your feet in.  We took turns riding in the boats.  Everyone had a great time!  Here are some pics.

As soon as we got there Nyles jumped right out and started playing in the water.
Carter was pretty excited too, mostly to get out of the car I think.

Steve getting the boats ready to go w/ Nyles riding inside.

Nyles just loving life, me holding Carter while he splashes in the water w/ his feet.

First trip out.

Steve has Nyles in his boat on the left, and Rob has Isaac w/ him on the right.

Cruising along.  Carter now sitting on his life jacket so his bun wasn't in the water.

Just splashing away w/ the shovel.

Shovels and sand/dirt/rocks, what more do you need?

Some people left shortly after we go there, so we moved over to their spot, which had a little more area and a nice big rock to put stuff on.

Now Alexa's turn.  She really enjoyed going and went several times.

We didn't bring the swimsuits because the water was supposed to be really cold, but it wasn't too bad, so Nyles went out in his regular shorts.  He didn't care at all.  He just wanted to play in the water.

Now Isaac's turn.

Carter splashing away again, and Dave starting to fly fish.

Now Kim's turn.

Jeff and Kim went out for a ride, and Isaac swam for a minute.

Steve, Dave, Cameron, Nyles and Carter just enjoying the lake.
Nyles got cold so we took his shirt off to dry.

We took Carter out of the water as well since he was getting a little cold.

Nyles warmed up now, Joann cutting out stuff for her primary lesson, and Isaac trying to warm up.

Jeff and Kim on their way back, along w/ Alexa and Rob.

Cute Steve ;)

Though it was a spur of the moment activity, and I was a little hesitant to go (because I always have things to do), I'm glad we went.  It was a fun family activity and it was nice to get out of the valley for a while.  It's always refreshing up in the mountains.  Thanks for the fun everyone!  We'll have to do it again soon ;)
