Trip to Cabins/Uintas

This year for a family vacation we decided to do something a little closer to home.  We didn't want to fly anywhere for Nyles' sake and we weren't sure how things were going to go, especially since he's been teething and whatnot.   So we decided to go up to the cabin one day and then up to the Uintas for the next couple days.  I found a groupon which allowed us to rent a cabin and atv for the time we were up there.  It sounded like a great idea so we went for it.

So, on Wednesday, August 14th we headed up to the cabin for a day after our dentist appointments.  Nyles was able to get his naps in before we left and we finished packing up as well.  Joann wanted to come up for a day also so she left shortly after us.  After we got up there and unpacked, we hiked down to the gully and Steve fished for a little while.  The weather was beautiful and the water was surprisingly calm.  It was nice!

After fishing a little while we went back up to the cabin, got dinner ready, then got Nyles ready for bed.  Joann made it as we were about ready for dinner.  We then took it easy that night and just relaxed.  The next morning we had breakfast then went out and did a little more fishing on the other side of the gully this time.  It was a beautiful day again.

Ready to head back to the cabin

So peaceful

As Nyles took a nap we got packed up and ready to go.  We packed our lunches and planned to stop on our way up to the other cabin in the Uintas, but Nyles fell asleep on the way so we decided to keep on going.  It took a little longer going through Kamas because of the fires by Rockport and construction, but it was still beautiful scenery.  Joann had been wanting to go up to the Uintas for quite some time so she followed us up.  Steve said they used to go up to the Uintas and camp a lot as a family so it brought back a lot of memories for him and Joann.

After we got up there we checked into our cabin and got settled in.  We then at our sandwiches/lunches that we had packed.  It was shortly before bedtime so we decided to just to swimming for a little while.  The water felt really nice actually and Nyles really enjoyed himself.

 Swimming time

After we went swimming we got Nyles ready for bed and put him down.  It was getting dark by then so Joann decided to stay the night w/ us.  We had a nice big King Bed to sleep in our 1 bedroom cabin.  There was also a large jetted tub in the bedroom.  In the living room they had a pullout bed (which Joann slept on) along w/ 2 couches w/ people also could have slept on.  There was also a Big Screen TV with DVD Player, Dish Network, and gas log fireplace.  We watched a little tv, had some popcorn, and chatted and just relaxed again.  It was really beautiful up there.

There were a whole lot of humming birds in the trees next to our cabin

The next morning Joann headed out after breakfast, then Steve went to and got our ATV.  We ended up getting a 4 person Polaris ranger.  This way we could leave Nyles in his car-seat for the ride.  After getting situated we took the ATV up in the Uintas.  It was beautiful!

Nyles loved to play w/ the remote and stand up on the table

And chew on it a little :)

Nyles passed out on the ride and didn't even wake up after we stopped

After our first ride we came home and got some lunch, then headed back out for another ride.  This time a little further up the trail.  Nyles loves his socks/toes!

We saw a deer on the way, crossed the road

More beautiful scenery

There were surprisingly a LOT of butterflies around

Since we had our seatbelts on we decided NOT to wear the heavy/uncomfortable helmets this time.
Feel the wind in your hair!

Nyles napping again.  The bumps didn't bother him one bit ;)

After our second ATV ride we turned it back in, then went swimming again.  For some reason it didn't seem as warm to me this time, so I got in the hot tub instead.  We then came back and played in our big bathtub together (still in our swimsuits of course), then got dinner.

Steve and Nyles just relaxing, Nyles eating the phone charger

We then went down to the fish pond and walked around for a bit (just below our cabin)

Nyles thought it was so fun to climb in and over the chairs

And he still thinks it's fun to eat socks, not sure why

More climbing over and through

After putting Nyles to bed we got a pretty good night's sleep.  Steve and I stayed up a little bit and watched a few shows, then went to bed.  The next morning we mainly just packed and cleaned up, then checked out.  It was a much needed vacation.  Just to get away from the city and our everyday routines.  It was nice to get some fresh air and just enjoy each other's company.  We love vacations, even if they are just a few days!

Nyles loves to put his fingers in our mouths for some reason, silly boy

Goodbye for now, until our next adventure!
