3rd Week of August

Here are some highlights from the 3rd week of August.

We got back from camping up at the Uintas late Monday night.  Around 4:30am Carter came into our bedroom saying he didn't feel well and felt he was going to throw up.  He told him to run to the bathroom.  He then proceeded to throw up, a lot!  He didn't really feel better after throwing up and his right side kept hurting, so Steve decided to take him into the ER.  He was worried it was his appendix.  They did blood work and an ultrasound.  The blood work said he had an infection, but they couldn't tell if his appendix was infected or not in the ultrasound (it was inconclusive).  After several hours they ended up sending him home.  They said if his pain got worse to take him up to Primary Children's Hospital downtown SLC.  Thankfully he didn't get much worse the rest of the day/week, so we didn't have to take him in.

Carter's pain level was really high, so they ended up putting in an IV.  Thankfully the meds in the IV worked (pain and nausea meds) and he was finally able to get some sleep.  I already had the day off from work, so I was able to be w/ the other boys while Steve was with Carter all morning.  We called to say hi to Carter in the hospital.

After they got back, they both wanted to sleep, so I took Hudson and Nyles to Build-a-Bear to make their birthday bears.  We then went over to the Lego Store and make a mini figurine.

Silly Hudson playing in bed, then asleep.  Nyles made a model metal toy (with Steve's help), his birthday gift from Dave and Joann.  Later Nyles asleep w/ his birthday bear.

Dave and Joann also took Nyles and Carter to a movie.  Most all other school districts had started school this week but ours, so they had the whole theater to themselves.  Sweet!
Later the boys helping Steve w/ the boat.

Friday night we went to a couple stores.  Hudson got big spinning sucker at Zurcher's for his birthday, then Nyles and Carter got a treat at Trader Joe's.

Saturday morning Steve took the boys to Airborne, a trampoline place.  The Martial Art's owners had rented out the place for the student's and their families.  They had fun!  Poor Carter started coughing and couldn't get it to stop though.  He took his inhaler but it still didn't help, so he had to stop jumping.

Hudson wanted a donut for his birthday, so we got some and sang Happy Birthday to him!
Later just relaxing, watching a show, at Camping World.

We went to check out some camping trailers.  They were throwing a party for their 200th store opening, so the boys got cotton candy, candy, chips/hot dogs, popcorn, cookies, drinks, plus water bottles and light up sunglasses.  They hit the jackpot for snacks/swag for sure!

Silly Hudson chewing on the sea horse stuffed animal, playing w/ Mickey Mouse, catching some of the light figures on his wall, and more Mickey Mouse playing, before going to bed.

Sunday, August 20th was Hudson's 3rd birthday.  Carter still wasn't feeling the best and had his cough still, so I stayed home w/ him and Hudson.  Steve went w/ Nyles to a youth meeting in the morning, then they helped direct traffic for Stake Conference.

Nyles helping direct traffic w/ Brother Hamilton in our ward while Steve ran home to start the ribs on the smoker.  Hudson can't help himself.  He has to play in the sandbox :)

We also played w/ bubbles outside and Piper had to join in on the fun.
She likes to pop the bubbles w/ her mouth.

Hudson got to open his gift from Grandma and Grandpa on the farm; a fun tool set!  Carter wanted to "help" him make things :)  Steve getting the ribs out to the smoker.
Hudson w/ his new Rocketship for his birthday.

Sunday afternoon we went to have dinner w/ Dave, Joann, Diane and LuDean.  Stacie and Phill's family came as well.  We had ribs, baked potatoes, salad, fruit and Diane's yummy breadsticks!  Afterwards Hudson and Nyles opened their birthday gifts.  Thank you everyone who helped make their birthdays special.  We really appreciate all you do and for loving our boys :)

Dave helping Hudson open his gifts.  Hudson excited for his new Mickey dinosaur truck.
Nyles w/ his new "camo" gloves from Aunt Diane, haha. :)

We then played the fishing game Diane put together, where you get prizes, which everyone loves!

Then taking turns singing Happy Birthday to Hudson then Nyles.
Hudson got a little mirror as a prize and wanted to check out Grandpa's teeth :)

Here are some fun facts about Cute Hudson.  We are so thankful to have him in our family.  He definitely brings a lot of joy and happiness to our family :)

Sunday night, Steve and I watched the movie "Heaven is for Real."  It was really good; based on a true story. You should watch it if you haven't.  It's free on BYU-TV.  We know life continues after this one and we will see our family members again.  Death is not the end.  I'm so thankful for this knowledge and the peace it provides us.  As President Nelson said, "The only way to take sorrow out of death is to take love out of life."

Uintas Trip

Sunday afternoon, August 13th, after my lesson and Steve's lesson, we finished packing our last few things, then headed up to the Uintas again.  This time we booked a camp site at Lost Creek Campground.  It's in between Trial Lake (campground was pretty full) and Moosehorn Lake (no reservable campgrounds).  It worked out really well and our campsite was awesome.  Rob rode up w/ us and Stacie/Phill met us up there.

Hudson and Carter fell asleep on the way up.  Getting out tents set up and our campsite.  Our campsite was actually really BIG and there was plenty of room to explore for the kids.

There was also a cute little creek running by both of our campsite and lots of pretty flowers.

Having some pork tacos for dinner.  Phill, Rob, Steve and Stacie.
Nyles, Conor and Carter ready for a campfire.

Making and eating s'mores.

The next morning, Hudson getting breakfast (pancakes and bacon).
Later watching a show under Steve's coat while we pack up to go to the lake.

We then drove over to Trial Lake to fish and enjoy the day.
Nyles and I out fishing on the kayak together.  Claire and Stacie out fishing as well.

I rowed around the lake while Nyles fished.  He caught a little minnow AND a bigger fish with it.
As he was reeling it in, the bigger fish jumped off.  It was pretty funny!

Nyles caught another couple fish.
Beautiful view by Mount Baldy.

Getting some lunch.  Dave and Joann showed up as well and joined in the fun.
Hudson had fun dragging their wagon around, even in the water.

More fishing.  Steve, Rob and Dave getting some lunch.
I took Hudson out for a ride and to go fishing.  Rob in a hammock.

Hudson and I caught some fish!!! I reeled the fish in all by myself, then released it all by myself!
Steve was pretty proud of me :)  Hudson thought it was fun catching the fish.

Carter loved snuggling w/ their dog Mesa.  More fishing from the shore.

Steve finally out for a ride on the kayak.
Carter went w/ Stacie to take Mesa for a walk.  Conor and Phill fishing.

Steve and I out of a paddle.  More shore fishing.  Carter getting more snuggles w/ Mesa.

Joann in the hammock w/ Hudson.  New fish in the lake.  Conor and Claire catching fish.

Hudson pulling the wagon through the water.  Nyles and Conor catching fish.

Hudson fell asleep on the way back to the campsite.  Beautiful flowers in our camp.

We packed up our campsite, had dinner, and then headed home.  It was a great trip!  We had a beautiful day and didn't get rained on!  It got a little cold during the night in our tents, but we made it through the night and the weather during the day was perfect!  Our campsite was beautiful and we all had a great time.  I know we'll be back again.  Until next time :)

2nd Week of August

Here are some highlights from the 2nd week of August.

On Monday, August 7th the boys went to Conor's birthday party at KTR, "Midvale's Indoor Action Sports Playground."  They had fun jumping around and playing.

Hudson going down the slide, jumping and rolling around.

Cousins: Cameron, Isaac, Nyles, Conor and Carter.  Nyles and Carter jumping and playing.

I got the ball stuck in the playground.  Pretty flowers in the yard.

The boys helped represent their martial arts studio on Fox13 TV!
They did several LIVE clips of the boys.

On TV!

Rob gave Nyles a new controller for the Nintendo Switch for his birthday.  Hudson likes to pretend he's playing also.  Later the boys enjoying a Popsicle and Hudson w/ a noodle on his belly.

Carter loves to snuggle w/ Piper.  The boys went to the dentist and did great!
Steve had an infection in his eye; thankfully it got better.

Hudson loves to play and be outside.  I let him "paint" with water on the walls, which he loves.

Silly Hudson pose while sleeping, and getting out of bed.

Friday, August 11th, we drove down to the Mount Timpanogos Temple for Chandler Lake's wedding/sealing to Megan.  It was pretty hot, but we made it through!

Grandma LuDean sporting her sunglasses outside.  Steve helping shade Isaac and Cameron.

Chandler and Megan coming out of the temple after their sealing.
Steve laid on the cement to cool off.

Quick family picture in front of the temple.  Rob rode down w/ us as well.
Carter fell asleep on the way home.  Hudson took a quick nap once we got home as well.

We then drove up to Midway to the Homestead for a ring ceremony.  Megan's parents couldn't join us in the temple, so they wanted to have the ceremony.  Brandon (Chandler's dad) officiated and discussed the covenants they made during the temple sealing.  After the ring ceremony we had a yummy dinner.

We then had about 1 hour until the reception started, so we explored around the Homestead.
The boys climbed up a rope, and tried to go fishing in the pond.

We then walked up to the Crater by the Homestead.  The Crater is a geothermal spring, hidden within a 55-foot tall, beehive-shaped limestone rock located on the Homestead property. You can view it from up top so we climbed up the stairs to see it.  The boys thought it was pretty cool.

Nyles, Hudson, Carter and Conor checking it out.

A couple pictures (Nyles and Carter ran off).

Dance time at the reception.  Hudson was the life of the party, and everyone wanted to dance w/ him!!!

Cutting the cake, then more dancing.

Nyles, Conor and Carter looking at the fish pond.  Heading home after a long, but wonderful day.

On Saturday, August 12th we celebrated Nyles' 11th birthday!  Singing Happy Birthday to him w/ a donut for breakfast.  He got a Lego set and a case of shot gun shells.  He was so excited to put it together; he couldn't wait!

After breakfast we went bowling.  Carter won this time!

Dave picked up Nyles and Carter that afternoon and went and watched a movie called "Elemental" while Hudson took a nap.  I worked on my Relief Society Lesson during that time.

That evening Steve took Nyles to a drone show.  It was pretty awesome they said!

On Sunday, I gave my lesson in Relief Society.  It was from the General Conference talk, “My Mind Caught Hold upon This Thought of Jesus Christ” by Elder Andersen. Elder Anderson says “My prayer…is that we will more consciously shape, strengthen, and secure this preeminent thought of Jesus Christ in the chambers of our soul, allowing it to eagerly flow into our mind, guide us in what we think and do, and continually bring the sweet joy of the Savior’s love."
