Spring Break 2nd Half

On Thursday, April 6th, I worked half the day, then we left to Idaho.  We were finally on our way up to visit my parents and family in Idaho.  We had been trying to go up since Thanksgiving, but kids were sick and there was a lot of snow that stopped us every time we wanted to go. We left around 12:30pm, which was about time for Hudson's nap.  We asked Carter to pretend to be asleep so Hudson would go also, which worked!  Nyles sat in the back until they both fell asleep.  Then he came forward and we read a book called, "I survived the sinking of the Titanic."

We saw several herd of deer and then some elk along our drive.  It was awesome!

Dave and Joann were kind enough to take Piper since the kennel had us down for the wrong date.

We made good time, only stopping once to fill up and get gas, and made it to my parent's place around 5pm.  Before bedtime, the boys wanted to read stories w/ Grandma.

Friday morning Nyles and Steve went pigeon hunting.  Nyles was super excited to use his new shotgun he got from Christmas.  He even got a few pigeons.

They wanted to go out practice shooting again that afternoon.

Nyles, Ezra and Nyles went for a walk around the property.  We took Hudson for a car ride and saw a pretty rainbow.  Ezra and Carter walked home, but Nyles was still walking around the farm by himself.  We picked him up since we didn't want him to walk alone, especially since he has asthma and had an asthma attack the night before during martial arts.  Later the boys on the swings.

That evening we made pizza for dinner.  The stove wasn't working though so my dad cooked them on his BBQ and on the smoker.  He also cooked the rolls for the next day on the BBQ.  Good work dad!

Saturday morning my dad mad pancakes and omelets for everyone on his large grill.

We then went to the Bruneau Elementary School for their annual Easter Egg Hunt.  The 4-H Club usually dyes DOZENs of hard, but since eggs are so expensive this year, they only did plastic eggs.

We then went to the church for lunch w/ the extended Hegerhorst family.  

Afterwards we had another Easter Egg hunt around the church.

Hudson and Mark wanted to pretend to drive Emily's van w/ Grandma in the back.  Hudson kept turning to her and saying, "You ready Grandma?  Ok, let's go!"  It was cute!

We were all there!  Rose, Barbara, Daron, Anna, Pauline, Penny, Dexter, Dad and Mom.

Steve took the boys to see his friend Mark Gasper who lives/works at CJ Strike Reservoir Dam.  He is raising chickens, so they got to hold the little ones.  After they got back we had our Easter "bag" hunt around the church w/ just my brothers and sisters.  I found mine up in a tree!  I had to hoist Carter up to get it down.  Rich helped Hudson find his in the trees.

Most headed out after that.  Hudson wanted to play in the leaves of course!  We then went back to my parent's for bed.  Hudson fell asleep on the way home since he didn't get a nap in.

We decided to head out Sunday morning.  Quick picture w/ my dad, then Grandma Hegerhorst.

It was interesting to see snow still on the drive home.  We've definitely had a lot of it, which we need.

Carter fell asleep again on the way home.  We listened to another audio book coming home.

Since we got home by the afternoon, we went over to Dave/Joann's for dinner.

So thankful for our Savior Jesus Christ and this time of year to reflect on his life, Atonement and Resurrection.  I got a jacket from Fidelity, mouse pad, and Bluetooth speaker.  I showed up a couple hours after we left to go to Idaho.  Cute Hudson all tuckered out.

Maybe you are in a state of “Friday” right now.

But it can be made “good” too. Not because the situation is good, but because Christ is good in the situation.

He overcame death. And He will help you overcome this.

"Spring Break" first half

On Monday, April 3rd Nyles and Carter started their "Spring Break."  Ironically we got snow both on Monday and Tuesday.  Some way to start Spring Break eh?  Here are some highlights of the first half of the week.

On Wednesday, Nyles, Carter and Hudson went over the Dave/Joann's place while Steve reported to Jury Duty.  Nyles and Carter went "swimming" in their front yard in the snow.  

They got 22 inches of snow!

Thankfully Steve was dismissed after they informed him the case was about a drunk driver.  They asked what Steve's relationship was w/ a drunk driver, and when he told them it was his wife that was hit, they decided to dismiss him since he'd have a bias.

Haha they got Elsa to stop the snow.  Look at the difference in snow pack we have this year from last.

I measured the day after when some of it has melted, but it showed still 10 inches.

Last week of March

Here are some highlights from the last week of March:

On Monday, March 27th, I had a Primary Activity w/ the girls.  We made Resurrections Rolls and learned of their symbolism to our Savior.  We discussed the importance of Easter and meaning in our every day lives.

Easter Resurrection Rolls

The ingredients and process uses symbolism to teach and celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

 Prep Time 10 minutes

 Cook Time 15 minutes

 Total Time 25 minutes

 Servings 8

Ingredients

• 1 8oz or 12oz package Crescent Roll Dough
• 1/2 cup Melted Butter
• 1 tbsp Cinnamon
• 1/4 cup Sugar
• 8 Marshmallows Standard Size, not mini

Instructions

1. Preheat oven at 375 degrees, melt butter, and combine cinnamon and sugar prior to activity. 

2. Explain you are going to make special easter rolls. Open the dough and divide into eight triangles.

3. Give each participant a marshmallow and explain the marshmallow represents Jesus Christ. Notice the marshmallow is pure and white and perfect, just like our savior. Describe that when Jesus died for us those that loved him took special measures to make sure he was treated and buried as a king would be.

4. Nicodemus brought oils and spices that were only used on the rich and used these to embalm Christ's body. The butter represents the oil and the sugar and cinnamon represent the spices. Carefully dip the marshmallow in the butter, then coat it in the sugar and cinnamon mix.

5. Christ's body was then carefully wrapped in clean linens. Wrap the marshmallow in the crescent dough, sealing off all of the edges.

6. After Christ's body was prepared he was placed in a tomb that Joseph of Arimathea, one of Christ's disciples had given Him. Because of the approaching Sabbath, the tomb was sealed and guards were sent to keep watch.

7. Place the rolls on a greased pan, and place in the oven. Explain the oven represents the tomb, and closing the oven door represents the sealing of the tomb. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 - 15 minutes until the rolls are golden brown.

8. Once done, pull the rolls out and allow them to cool slightly. Encourage everyone to taste their roll, notice the marshmallow is gone. Testify that Christ lives, that he is risen. Explain that after the Sabbath Day the devoted Mary Magdalene and other faithful women set out for the tomb, to further care for Christ's body. At the tomb they saw an angel, and were afraid; but he told them to not be afraid, and that "He is not here: for he is risen..."

Steve went to Scheels w/ Hudson to pick something up.  Hudson had fun playing.

Ezra came over Friday afternoon.  It was his Spring Break this week.  

The boys wanted to play on the trampoline and throw balls at each other.

We ordered a belt display rack for Nyles and Carter for their hard work earning their belts.  

Steve fit their belts in and hung up their display racks.  Awesome work boys!  

We got some HUGE strawberries for crepes.

Cute Hudson sleeping.  The crazy amounts of snow we've been receiving this winter.  We definitely need it.  We are just praying it won't melt too quickly and cause flooding.  All of our prayers have been answered getting the rain/snow which we desperately need, that's for sure!

It was General Conference weekend, which we love.  Hudson wanted to play w/ his bubble blower, so we let him.  Nyles and Carter made Perler Beads which we put magnets on the back.

Sunday evening we had dinner at Jeff/Kim's for our monthly family dinner.

 Afterwards we had an Easter Egg Hunt on the lawn.
