4th Week of October

Here are some highlights from this past week.

Beautiful Fall colors in our yard.

Halloween decorations.  Carter loves Whoppers :)

Pretty Mums still in bloom.

Carter finally decided on what he wants to be for Halloween.
He's going to be a dinosaur and Nyles is going to be a Dr.

Carter the dinosaur attacking Steve and Nyles the Dr checking his vitals at the same time.

The boys the next day at Dave/Joann's place, in their costumes just playing on the ATVs.

Steve then brought the boys up to meet me at work for our Halloween Party Friday evening.

Bowling candy corns.

Go fish.

Bean bag toss.

Say Cheese!

We went to the Aquarium on Saturday w/ Ezra and Chris.  We went on a scavenger hunt finding "mysterious creatures" and the kids got some candy on the way.  Watching the otter get some food.

Learning about animals.

Walking across the rope bridge.  Carter got a little scared at the spider legs coming through.

Big spider on the outside of the bridge.

More spiders on the bridge.

Sitting on the tree frog.

Looking at the big fish (Pacu, Arapaima, Arowana, etc).

A skeleton explorer.

After the Aquarium we got ready to paint the playhouse again.  It definitely needed another coat.  Steve put up a different from so we could use the rock wall and rope.

Carter helped for a little bit :)

Nyles stuck it out a little longer.
The sun was nice to shine for us most of the afternoon for the paint to dry.

Steve put the slide back on and the rope for the rock wall before calling it a night.
Ironically it snowed all day today. Thankfully the paint is holding up.

This morning we had our Primary Program.  It went really well.  My favorite song the kids sang is "Risen."  If you haven't seen/heard it before, you can listen to it here "Risen Song."  It is such a beautiful song with a beautiful message about our Savior.

The boys wanted to make Halloween sugar cookies so we did after church.

They liked eating some of the candy too of course.

Having fun decorating cookies.

Our creations.  Carter loved putting the candy balls on the cookies.

Carter and Nyles watching the Grinch (Carter's new favorite movie), while it snowed Sunday all afternoon.  It was definitely cold today (high about 40) and is supposed to be that cold or colder most of the week.  They said it's like December temperatures!

We went over to Dave/Joann's for dinner to celebrate Dave's 65th birthday, which is tomorrow.
The boys were excited to watch Dave blow out his candles.

Happy Birthday Dave!

3rd Week of October

We had a fun week....well long weekend really.  It was "Fall Break," so the boys didn't have school on Thursday or Friday and Steve didn't have his rotations.   Here are some highlights.

Thursday, Steve took our Honda Pilot to get waxed and buffed (part of the deal they threw in).

Looking good!
Did I mention they also put brand new tires on and a new windshield.  Sweet!

While Steve was working on his boats, the boys used the tie down straps to tie up the trees, then took pictures w/ Steve's phone :)  Silly boys.

Cool pictures though.

And a few more.

Friday I took the day off to be w/ the boys.  We went to the chiropractor, then were on our way to Winco when I thought we should go over to Gardner Village to find the witches (since we were so close).  We haven't been there since Nyles was 1 or 2, so the boys had fun finding them.  Nyles said we should do it every year!

Taking a picture in front of a witch surrounded by sharks.

Carter giving us the stink face.  Nyles trying on a witches hat.

More witches hats, and taking a picture in front of a pumpkin.

That afternoon we started working on the playhouse.  Steve had rented a power washer Thursday, which thankfully took off most of the old paint.  We then used wire brushes to get the rest of the old paint off (the lose stuff that is).  Then we got the paint out and started painting.  They boys wanted to help so we got some old clothes on and let them help.

Carter going down the slide just before starting.  Me using the roller on the roof.

The boys helping on the sides, then Carter working on the floor.

Nyles and Steve cutting in so I can roll.

Nyles w/ his paint cup and paint brush.  He was definitely a BIG helper!  We lost Carter after a little bit, but Nyles stayed the whole time until we literally ran out of paint!  We'll need to get another gallon this next weekend to do a 2nd coat.

Nyles and Steve working hard before it gets too dark.

The paint job was definitely overdue.  The wood was soaking up the new coat of paint.

Looking good!  The paint is actually a stain that is waterproof.

Almost out of paint.

All done for the day!

Such an improvement!

That night Rob came over so we could go to the temple.  We were able to do family sealings.  It was wonderful!  The next morning Steve went over to Rob's house to help him clean out his garage.  They moved around a few of the big items, then Steve told him he really needs to sort through things first before they can do anything else.

Date night at the Draper Temple!  Rob w/ all his stuff in his garage (most of it is his parents).

Saturday afternoon Steve went out duck hunting with Rob since it was windy, rainy and cold; perfect weather for duck hunting!  While Steve was gone the boys played and I cleaned and decluttered.  We then played a couple games, including "Perfection."  Carter didn't like it after a while and would hide behind the chair while Nyles thought it was funny and put his face in the shapes as they popped up!  Oh we love our boys!

They got 4 ducks and 3 Coots.  Rob's brother's in-laws from the Philippines took them all.
They didn't even have to skin them!

On Sunday after church we painted our pumpkins we got from Winco.
Carter wanted a Minion on his pumpkin.

Working on my pirate pumpkin.  Nyles w/ his spider web pumpkin.

Trying to get a picture.  It was sunny outside, but not very warm.

Cheese!

Our pumpkins: Carter's minion's pumpkin, my pirate pumpkin, Steve's cute pumpkin face and Nyles' spider web pumpkin.

It was cold on Sunday again (around 50 degrees), but we went out to the "Farm Park" for a while.
Nyles going down the slide, and Carter by the pumpkins.

Some people at the park let Carter throw the ball for their dog.  He loves puppies!

Nyles "king of the tree stump."  A joke Steve found.

On a more serious note...great advice.
