1st Week of October

We had another busy week.  Steve did rotations 4 days again this past week, trying to catch up from the week he was sick.  Here are some highlights.

Cute Steve during his rotations at LDS Hospital.

Nyles went to Young Men's with Steve.  They played gaga ball.  Nyles though it was awesome!

Friday night Rob came over for dinner for "Duck's Eve."  We made ribs and a potato/carrot mix.  After dinner he went home to pack his stuff, then came back, loaded up the boats and headed down to Utah Lake.  They were afraid of not getting a spot so they headed out early.  When they got there, there were over 20 trucks/boats in the parking lot.  They spoke to a few people and they said they need to get a spot out on the lake, not just a parking spot.  So they got their boats out, a blanket, and headed out on the lake.  They went out in the reeds and camped out until morning.

The parking lot.  Rob in his boat all bundled up.

Steve ready for bed.  He kept his light on all night so others would see they were there.

The next morning the started shooting.

They got a few ducks.

Rob on his boat.

Steve looking for ducks.

They shot 8 ducks and found 5.

Rob's brother's in-laws are from the Philippines and asked to have the ducks as is.  They didn't even have to clean them!  They lucked out there :)  Steve said it was their best duck opener yet!

While they were out shooting ducks, I took the boys to Home Depot to make airplanes!

They had it outside this time, which was nice in the sun.

The firefighters and police were there too.  They even had a little fire truck :)

Nyles had to use the restroom so we ran inside.

Tada!

We found a new project to work on.  I saw this old play-set listed for FREE close by, so we went over and got it.  It needs a new paint job, but we figured why not?  The couple just bought the house and the play-set was in the backyard.  Their kids are older so they didn't need it, hence they listed it for free.  It was perfect!

Rob helped us the first night to go take some of it down, then Steve and I got the rest the next night.

The slide was worth it all by itself!  The kids LOVE the slide.  We put it on the wall temporarily and the boys couldn't resist but to play on it.  Saturday morning after Home Depot they went out and played on it w/ their airplanes.

I love the Fall Mums blooming!

We still have Daisies blooming, which I also love!  The boys got our their marble set to play with.

After Steve got back from duck hunting we started working on the play-set.  We've wanted to put a play-set or fort up on the wall for the kids to play on, so this was perfect.  We figured we could use the existing wood instead of having to buy any.  We measured how far up the slide would need to be then Steve sawed off the bottom legs and we went from there.

We then dug holes to put the legs in and cemented them in.

Carter was so excited to try out the slide again.

What we got done the 1st day.

Sunday we watched General Conference together.
Carter wanted to cut paper as we watched and put it on Steve :)

The boys also did some coloring and played General Conference Bingo.

Silly boys!

In between conferences they had to go out and play on the play-set again.  Steve drilled in the telescope and steering wheel as well.

Nyles wanted to pretend to be a pirate on a ship.

We got the other side added too.

Coming together.

Last night after Steve got home from his rotations (class was cancelled), we worked on the play-set again.  We got the roof up on the other side and reinforced it all around.

After working on the play-set we made a fire and made s'mores.  We talked about what we learned from General Conference and Nyles taught us why it's important to be honest.  It was a fun evening as a family!  Our backyard is coming together and it's fun to enjoy it!

S'more time!

We look forward to reading and watching all the General Conference messages again.  How blessed we are to have a living prophet on the earth today to lead and guide us.
