3rd Week of July

Highlights from the 3rd week of July.

Pretty Calla Lilies.  We got new water bottles from Costco!

Steve finally got his official certificate showing he passed his exam!

I took the boys to the park to play for a while.

Nyles after going up the rock wall, and Carter going up the other wall.

Nyles going across the bars at the school.

Steve went up Big Cottonwood Canyon w/ Phill to get pics w/ his company's gear.

The kids at the movie!

We had a get together w/ friends from our Midvale 11th Branch.
Nyles, Calvin, Will and Logan in the hammock.

And more kids piles in the hammock.

Another round.

Flashback to 2010 and Cornbelly's.
Dave/Melissa Thomas, Steve and I, Laura/Brett Minson and Emily/Otto Shill.

And look at us now (some of us anyway).  We've grown a little.
The Spears, Shills, Steeds, Harrs, Millwards, Minsons, Thomas', and McGraths.

Nyles sliding into the pool.  Silly kid.

And then we went and got tested again for both seasonal allergies and his peanut allergy (at the bottom).

The boys enjoying a sucker and movie while Nyles gets tested.

Nyles' back after getting tested for allergies, then playing on the back patio w/ some wood blocks.

After getting the fence fixed, we wanted to fix the space between the fence and the retaining wall.  We decided to put in a couple trees and later we'll add bushes and flowers.

Steve working really hard to get the ground level.

Nyles playing w/ blocks outside while Steve worked on the retaining wall area.

Getting the sprinklers put in and ground leveled.

Here comes the truck full of mulch, and they brought our 2 Honey Locust trees.

So much mulch in our driveway!

Steve planted the trees and then Nyles watered them.

Getting the ground cover fabric in place before putting mulch on it.

When I got home Steve had finished the whole section up on the retaining wall w/ mulch.
Good work Steve!  It's hard work let alone in the 95 degree weather outside!

More pretty flowers: Day Lilly and Calla Lilly.

 They make me happy!

Then on Saturday we decided we wanted another tree, so Steve left that morning and went and picked one up.  With 3 trees it definitely feels more symmetrical.

More pretty flowers in the backyard (can't  remember the name of it).

Our rose of Sharon (Hibiscus) bushes are blooming.

3 trees w/ mulch.  Looking good!

Now we just need to finish the other side.

We went to Draper days for an hour after working in the yard the whole day.
A guy brought his animals to pet for free.  Carter and Nyles petting a baby camel.
\
A baby zebra!

The boys had to see the firetrucks.  They had an inflatable house you could walk in explaining fire dangers.  At the end there was a "smoke" so the kids had to crawl under it to get out.

Carter reading his PJ Masks book and eating gold fish.

Cute boys w/ their new sunglasses from Draper Days.

Sunday afternoon we went up Little Cottonwood Canyon to Lisa Falls.  It's a short little hike.
Just starting the hike.

The stream was full and flowing.

On our way.

We made it to the falls!

It's definitely running faster than last year w/ all the rain we got.

A quick picture on the rock in front of the falls.
Carter likes to hold up 4 finger but he's only 3 years old, haha ;)

Cute Carter and Steve.

The boys had to play in the water of course.

They wanted to set up the hammocks again also.  My view while sitting in a hammock.

Nyles loves his hammock.

Cuties.

Steve taking a turn.

And Carter loves to swing Nyles in the hammock.  Win/win!

Pretty scenery.

Climbing the tree.

The mountains are so beautiful.

Great insight.

2nd Week of July

We had another fun week, though a little less eventful than the 4th of July.  Steve had his follow up appointment w/ his heart Dr, and he said Steve is good to go, no restrictions.  Great news!  The Dr advised having a check up when he's 50 years old.  Here are some other highlights.

Conor and Nyles took a rocket and robots class (Monday-Thursday) offered by the school district.
Holding up the rockets they made.

They had a lot of fun being together and making robots/rockets.

Cute Nyles w/ his rocket.

Nyles and Carter in the pool at Joann's house.  Nyles lost another tooth!

London, Carter, Nyles and Conor eating Creamies and watching a show on Grandma/Grandpa's bed.

Steve went up to Silver Lake w/ Joann and the boys to get away from the heat one day.

They brought up the hammocks to sit in.

Just hanging out.

Getting a snack.

And there's still snow up there!

Snow!

Silly boys!

The boys throwing Pop-its on the sidewalk.

I took Nyles and Carter to the splash pad when Steve went to Young Men's one night.

Carter following a fish down the water.

The boys having a great time!

Now that our retaining wall is done, it was time to fix the fence that had blown over.
Steve and Bishop Anderson digging holes for the new posts.

Steve working hard on the fence.

A few days later the fence was done!  Good work Steve!

Sunday afternoon we went up the canyon to Donut Falls to enjoy the beauty and a little cooler temps.

Cute Carter and Nyles enjoying our hike/stroll.

Beautiful scenery.

Pretty flower and river.

Family picture.

Carter hitching a ride.

More pretty flowers.

Steve got a new phone so we had to try out his camera too.

Making our way back.

A cute little pot gut.

Carter getting a ride again and taking over Steve's sunglasses.

And we had to put up the hammocks for a while.

Nyles was so excited to put up his hammock.

Nyles had to show me how to keep dirty feet out of the hammock.

Carter giving Nyles a push.

Cute Nyles :)

Great quote.
