MLK Weekend Fun

On Friday, January 18th Steve met me at the train station on 2100 South and we headed up the canyon to Midway.  We went over to Melanie/Brandon's new house they just build.  We had pizza for dinner, then headed over to the Midway Ice Castles w/ the rest of Steve's family.

Steve and I at the ice castles.

Going through the entrance into the ice castles.  Steve and I again.

Carter loved going through the ice castles.

Steve and Phill.

Brandon and I waiting our turn to go down the slide.

Stacie w/ Carter, and then going down the slide.

Cameron and Olivia coming down now.

Alexa waiting her turn.  London coming down.

Noah and Isaac coming down.

Aunt Diane, Joann and Carter.

After the ice castles we went back to Melanie's house, the kids played for a while, then we all went to bed.  The next morning we had breakfast and the kids played some more.  We then decided to go sledding at a hill close to their house.

Nyles, Conor, and Noah doing some yoga w/ Brandon.

Steve carrying Carter in to go sledding.

We started out at the really big hill.

Noah, Nyles and London after going down the hill, and the dog Sandy.

Carter loving life, after going down the hill w/ Steve.

The kids decided to stay at the bottom on the hill and just play instead of going back up.

Nyles, Olivia and London eating "snow cones" :)

Conor playing in the snow, and Phill literally sleeping on the snow.
He got back from London the day before and still had jet lag.

Since the snow was a foot deep, it was a little tricky going up and down.  You would sink just about every foot you took.  We decided to make a pathway, so it would be easier to get back up.  Steve used his larger feet to make the path, then we continued to mat it down.  It definitely made it easier to climb back up the hill.

Carter eating some snow.  Silly kid.

Conor and Noah coming down and Lynsie.

After lunch we headed home.
The boys of course were exhausted and fell asleep pretty quickly on the ride home.

Carter passed out.  Nyles fell asleep, yet he kept trying to eat his candy cane.  It was pretty funny.  He would be asleep, then all of a sudden he'd lift the candy cane and suck on it again.

Carter being a cool guy w/ sunglasses.

We made some homemade Oreo cookies.  Carter LOVES cookies and asks for them all the time.

Carter and Nyles playing fireman and firedog after church.

Steve took some elk jerky to the neighbors and the boys wanted to pull the wagon along the way.
Carter fell asleep on the way over to Pauline's house to celebrate Charlotte's birthday.

Getting ready to sing Happy Birthday.
Ali, Sophia, Nyles, Charlotte and Ezra.

Blowing out the candles, then after cake and ice cream we played some games together.

The next morning, Monday, January 21st, which was Martin Luther King Jr Day, we got dumped on with snow!  We got about 10 inches in Sandy, and a couple feet in the mountains.  It was nice not to have to try to get to work.  The snow plows didn't even get to us until the next day.

Steve cleared the driveway, but of course it got covered again pretty quickly.  Luckily we have all-wheel drive and were able to get out in the afternoon to run some errands.  The main roads were cleared off, it was just the neighborhoods which were hard to get through.

It was a fun weekend full of snow, ice castles, sledding, cake, family, and more snow.
Thanks for the fun everyone!
