Little Bell Reservoir Hike

On Sunday, September 23rd we decided to take another family outing after church.  There is so much beauty around us we wanted to enjoy it while the weather is still warm.  Since we haven't taken the boys up to Little Bell Reservoir in a while, we decided to go there.  Nyles wanted to go to a park, but we kept telling him we should enjoy nature now while the weather is still good and the fall colors are changing.  At first he wasn't sure he'd like it, but after doing the hike he kept saying "Mom, that was a great ideas.  We'll have to do it again!"  Here are some highlights.

Starting our hike up.

Beautiful view and colors.

Carter hitching a ride up w/ Steve and being silly.

Love this views!

Taking a quick break on the way.

Cute little acorns and beautiful colors as we reach the reservoir.

Carter got down off the backpack as we got to the reservoir.
Carter was excited to "walk," a word he can also say now!

The water was SOOO low in the reservoir.

There is a new bridge now as well to cross the river, though the river wasn't full of water.
Usually we would find a rock to cross the river, but now we can use the bridge.

Pretty colors.

Ironically it started to rain as we got up there, so we took cover under some trees.
The boys and I made some faces while we waited for the rain to pass.

Cute Carter.

Nyles had to climb on the rocks before going.

Carter wanted to walk a little bit on the way down as well.  Of course I was looking at all the acorns and saw this snake curled up in the middle of them.  I immediately screamed and ran away from it.  Steve had to take a picture though and show the boys.  Yuck!

Now on Steve's shoulders.  Another cute little acorn.

We had a fun walk/hike up to Little Bell Reservoir as a family.  Again we're so blessed to have so many wonderful places so close by to enjoy.  We're so thankful for His creations!

I'm also thankful for beautiful hymns which express how I feel about His creations as well.

Silver Lake Outing

On Sunday September 16th, we took a drive up to Silver Lake.  We decided to go since we hadn't been there together as a family this year.  After church we changed our clothes, packed lunches, and headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon.  It was a great afternoon, the weather was perfect, the views were incredible, and the company was even better!  Here are some highlights.

Carter being silly on the way up.  His new thing is sticking out his tongue for pictures.
Walking across the boardwalk.  Yes it's easier w/ Carter in the wagon.

Beautiful views!

Carter ready for dinner.

Nyles and Carter eating their dinner on the log.

A silly squirrel climbing up the tree.

Steve pulling Carter as he finishes up his snack.

Carter eating an apple as he watches the ducks come over.

I never tire of this view.

My cute boys enjoying the view also.

Running up the boardwalk looking for squirrels.

So beautiful!

Gorgeous!

Nyles had to climb up the big rock wall (going around of course).

Beautiful on every side of the lake.

Making our way back.

We didn't see any moose this time but we saw these deer.  It was a wonderful family outing up the canyon!  We're so glad to have all these beautiful places to see that are so close by.

September Rest of 1st Half

Here are a few other highlights from the 1st half of September.

Carter at the playground.  We love going to the Draper Park!

Silly boys.

Carter w/ Parmesan cheese on his hands.
Beautiful sunflowers spontaneously growing in our backyard.

Cute Carter helping me tear down the wallpaper downstairs.

As we were getting Nyles ready for bed he finally let us look at his loose tooth.  Steve did one pull and it came out!  Before and after the tooth came out.  He was so excited!

Steve put up the same lights for his grandma on her garage.

He also put up a smaller one next to her front door.
Good work honey!  He's pretty good at electric!

Carter playing w/ painters tape w/ Grandma Joann.

Our neighbor Sydney Evans was kind enough to watch the boys until I got home from work while Steve went to class.  The boys had a great time playing w/ Clay and Beau though, and of course their toys ;)  We're still adjusting to Steve's sew school schedule but we're making it work.

Carter playing in the sandbox.

More fun in the sandbox.

Steve put a rope up across the living room and the boys had a blast playing w/ it.

Carter dropped his yogurt and it exploded on him, haha!
