3rd Week of July

The 3nd week in July was busy also.  Here are some highlights.

Cute Carter and Nyles playing at Grandma McGrath's while Steve mowed their lawn.

Another time they got Popsicle and watched Steve mow.

Just relaxing, enjoying their Popsicle.

Nyles' new backpack for 1st grade.  He was so excited to get it, he asked Steve if they could "try it out" during a picnic, so Steve took them to the Aquarium for lunch.

Steve, Carter, and Nyles at the Aquarium's theater.

Nyles trying out his new lunchbox, having a picnic at the Aquarium.  As you can see he was soooo excited/happy to be trying out his new lunchbox.  Carter climbing.

And down the slide!

Nyles was also so excited to go to the dentist.  Look at his big smile!  He LOVES going to the dentist; silly kid.  He literally is excited to go.  It's like Christmas for him.  Getting x-rays.

Getting sealants put on his 6 year molars, which came in a little early.

Cute Carter loves to get in our bed.

Many mornings he'll sit there while I get ready for work.

Great quote!

Steve and the boys went up to the cabin on Friday, July 20th to help work on it.

They went over by the dam to look at the damage caused by the fires.

Getting some lunch.

After work I ended up coming up to the cabin w/ Joann last minute Friday night to help stain the deck on Saturday.  After breakfast we went out there and got to work.

Nyles getting his roller ready to paint w/ the linseed oil.

Nyles and I rolled the entire deck floor, then went and helped w/ the other details of the railing.

Steve working hard on the railings.  Nyles helping Dave near the steps.

Still going....

Nyles taking a break, and Carter getting some lunch.
Carter slept for a good 2 hours, so that was helpful while we worked.

We got most of the deck done, which was great.  It hadn't been done in a few years so it desperately needed it.  We finished just in time for a rain storm to hit.  The power went out at the cabin so we packed up and left.  It was a short trip but we got a lot done.  Nyles did an awesome job and was a BIG help, especially considering how little he is.  Great job Nyles!  You're never too young to learn how to work.

2nd Week of July

We had another eventful week during the 2nd week of July.  I had Sharing Time on Sunday, the 8th.  I taught the importance of family prayer, scripture study and family home evening.  At the end of the lesson we played a couple rounds of "Doggy doggy, who has the bone?"  It's a game we used to love to play as a family growing up during our FHE, and we've taught Nyles it who LOVES it, so I thought we could share it w/ others.  Everyone had a great time playing it!

After Church we finished making ribs and chicken for LuDean's 92nd birthday.  We then went and had dinner w/ LuDean, Diane, Dave and Joann.  Diane got her favorite cake, carrot cake, then we sang her Happy Birthday!

Carter playing at Great Grandma LuDean's.  Singing Happy Birthday to LuDean.

Great quote.

We had the ATVs in our garage for 2 weeks while there were fires up at the cabin.  The boys loved playing on them every day, pretending to drive them.

Nyles and Carter playing on the ATVs.  A pretty Lily in our backyard.

A deer just wandering around in our neighborhood eating flowers/bushes.

Carter and Nyles at Draper Park.

Pretty sunset.

Nyles thinks he's sneaky sometimes and climbs into Carter's crib after his nap.

 Great quote.

Carter and I chilling at home while Steve and Nyles went up to the Uintas overnight.

Steve really wanted to go backpacking again up in the Uintas, so he took Nyles up one Friday night after I got home from work.  Rob wasn't able to go when Steve went w/ the Young Men, so he wanted to go as well.  Steve invited the rest of his family, but only Phill and Conor were able to make it.  They all met up and drove up together w/ Steve.  They had some slight delays leaving, so they ended up getting up there a little later than they thought.  Plus when they go to the parking lot they had planned to go it was completely full, so they went up further, which was closer to where Steve went w/ the Young Men and found a close lake.  It worked out perfectly though and they had a great time!

Nyles on the hike in.  Beautiful sunset.
 .

Steve loving life.

Nyles hiking in further.

Their tents set up.

Phill watching the fire and Nyles having hot chocolate.

More hot chocolate and s'mores.

The next morning they tried out their hammocks.
Rob and Nyles enjoying life.

Nyles and Steve in the hammock.

 Cute boys!

It rained that morning so they hiked out a little earlier than planned.

"There is beauty all around..."

Pretty flowers.

Nyles and Steve hiking out.

Carter playing w/ marbles.

When Steve and Nyles got back we went over to Draper Days for a little while.
Nyles and Carter w/ fireman hats.  Carter catching a ride w/ Steve.

Nyles used some of the money he earned and played a couple games.

We also got free books at the library for doing the Summer Readying program.
Steve read all the books when we got home.

Carter loves playing w/ his tractor he got from his birthday from Grandma/Grandpa Hegerhorst.  He tries to see what it can push or pull since it moves on it's own.  Silly boy.
