March Adventures

Here are a few other adventures from the month of March.

Steve took Nyles fishing up at Echo canyon.  It took then a few tries to figure out what was biting, but they got it and ended up w/ a pretty big fish.  Nyles was pretty excited about catching the fish.

Beautiful day!

Nyles waiting patiently for the fish to bite.

Caught one!
Nyles didn't want to touch it though, so he carried it on a stick back to the car.

Steve also went w/ Dave to check out the snow levels at the cabin on a different day.  Then while they were there they went ice fishing of course.

Snow levels coming into the gate at the cabin-the gate mostly covered in snow.

Dave setting up.

Steve enjoying life!

Steve went to the Aquarium w/ a few different people this past month.  His friend Eric Seamons and his family came down from Logon during his Spring Break.  They had a great time at the Aquarium, then came back to our place for lunch, and let the kids play in our yard for a while before leaving.  Nyles had a great time playing w/ other kids.  Carter slept after they got home.

Nyles playing Eric's 2 girls, Erin and Abby-his wife Becca also.

Looking at the penguins.

Now the turtles.

Pretending to drive the submarine.

Steve also went w/ his friend Josh Featherstone and his boys to the Aquarium.  Another day he also went w/ Dave Thomas and his 2 kids (Melissa was gone for a work event).  After going w/ Dave they came back to our place for lunch and let the kids play a while.

Barbara also came down to visit Salt Lake and stayed w/ us for a few days.  It was a lot of fun to have her family over.  Nyles LOVED having his cousins come play, and especially stay the night at our house.  He was so excited to play w/ them!  Barb and Rich went out and did activities during the day, then came back to our place and hung out at night time.  The first day Steve went w/ them to the Aquarium.

Barb and her family petting reptiles.

Going across the rose bridge in the Amazon area.

That night Pauline and her family came over for dinner.  We were going to have a BBQ outside, but it was raining, so we had a BBQ inside :)  Rose wasn't feeling well so she didn't come.

Rich thinks Carter looks like Theodore from the Chipmunks.
They do share some similar features ;)

Pauline holding Carter.
Rich trying to keep the kids entertained w/ rolling a ball back and forth.

Chris and Mikey playing Nintendo Switch.

After dinner I put Carter to bed, then Pauline, Barb and I went to Fresh Market's grocery store just down the street from us, which was closing.  We got some good deals on baby food, canned pumpkin, and other things.  We brought back some ice cream for the kids as well.  After we got back, Pauline took her kids home, Nyles went to bed, and Barb put her younger kids to bed.  Steve then taught the rest how to play the game Munkchin.  Chris stayed to play, and he won!  Everyone who played said it was fun and wanted to play it again the next night.

Playing Munchkin.

Mikey, Steve, Chris, Abby, Ryan and Rich.

The next night we made BBQ ribs for dinner.  Afterwards we played games again.  Barb and I played Candy Land w/ Calley, and Steve stayed Munchkin w/ the rest.

Munchkin crew the 2nd night.  Again everyone had a great time and enjoyed the game!

We had a lot of fun having Barb and her family over.  Nyles LOVED having all his cousins over and especially grew found of Abby.  He was really sad when they had to leave.  Luckily we went up for Easter a couple weeks later, so he got to see them again.  Until next time....

March Madness

March was a crazy month.  The weather couldn't decide if it was Spring or not, and we couldn't decide if we were going to be sick or not.  We made it through though!

Carter turned 9 months on the 8th of March.  He has his 2 bottom middle two teeth in and also started getting his top canine teeth in ironically.  They both broke through by the end of the month, so he looks a little like a vampire now.  His top middle two teeth are just about through the gums as well, so it won't last long, but until then, it's kinda cute!  Carter is doing great at sitting up.  He loves to sit with a bin full of toys and play for quite a while.  He still rolls around and can move in almost any direction, except forward that is.

Nyles is getting so big and is able to do more and more things.  He loves to help Steve, especially outside on the yard or just being outside.  He really enjoys being with other kids and has started playing more w/ the kids in our neighborhood.  As the weather has warmed up the kids have started to come out to our circle where they play games.  Nyles especially loves to ride his bike around and play cops w/ the other kids, a game he taught them.  He's very creative and seems to make friends pretty easily.  He also had a Kindergarten orientation this past month.  I can't believe we're doing Kindergarten orientation already!

I was glad to see March end since it meant the end of the first quarter.  It was a busy quarter at work since it's tax season and we have a campaign going on until tax day, April 18th.  Things actually went pretty well this past quarter in my book, so I appreciate that.  We were expecting some big changes starting in April, but they've been postponed until June, so we're in limbo again.  The past couple years have been full of lots of changes, which can be good, but it's also been a little uneasy at times.  One day at a time I guess.

Steve has been busy trying to help the boys and himself get better.  He's taken them on plenty of outings though and had some fun too.  Since we killed our grass, actually crabgrass in the Fall, Steve started working on reseeding it this past month.  The weather hasn't always been in our favor, but we have received quite a bunch of rain, so hopefully that'll help it to grow once the weather warms up.  Steve has also taught our Primary lesson by himself many times since I stayed home w/ the boys while they've been sick.  He's done a great job teaching!

Here are some pics of the highlights.

Carter eating while watching the song, "Gethsemane."
Both he and Nyles love that song.

My cute boys :)

Nyles wrapped Carter up in a blanket so he wouldn't go knock down his blocks.  Silly boy!  They look happy as can be though!

Nyles made a wall made of pillows and cushions.  Pretty good eh?

Carter w/ cheese on his face (his favorite food).
And a hat Nyles put on him.  He looks kind of like an elf w/ it on.

Nyles helping Steve spread grass seed and humate.

Nyles fell asleep w/ a blanket "cape" on.  Carter just waking up from a nap.

Nyles had to wear his fireman outfit to Costco.  He loves to play fireman and cop these days.  He loves pretending to save people from danger.  Eating some pizza at Costco.

Steve feeding Carter.  Carter isn't sure what to think about the camera this time.

Carter being cute in his jumper.  Nyles had a fever again, so back to the Dr we went.  It wasn't Strep-throat though thankfully.  He had an another ear infection, so he went back on antibiotics.  He probably didn't kill it the first time around.  He got a Popsicle after doing the strep test.

Sporting our sunglasses!

Nyles and Carter w/ their St. Patrick's Day Sunglasses.

Carter getting reeled in.

Our dead lawn on the right.

Nyles and Carter sporting some stripes.

Nyles putting his lizard on Carter.  Our first flower of the Spring was a daffodil in our front yard.  Yeah for flowers and Spring!  It makes me happy!

Carter playing w/ Nyles on the floor.  Nyles playing w/ his firetruck at a playground.

Nyles riding his bike and Carter chewing on his dog while we're taking a walk around the park.  Nyles doing some arm exercises at the park.

Cute Carter playing the drums at the park.

Cute Carter helping me w/ the laundry.  Blossoms on our trees; so pretty!

Our trees in blossom.

Carter and I.  I got a haircut earlier in the month.  Carter enjoying some cheese.

Steve ordered some more dirt to put on top to help level out the ground for the grass seed.

Nyles helping Steve, and playing in the dirt w/ his trucks of course!

Working hard.

The dirt all spread out.

Now some straw to help the seed from blowing away, keep it warm and protect it.

Nyles helping Steve again.  Nyles cuddling up w/ Carter on the couch.

Nyles playing in the rain at Dave/Joann's place.

Ryan, Lynsie and Nyles looking at a worm in the rain.

Carter just chewing on everything in sight ;)

I went over to the SLC temple to do initiatories on night after work.  It's nice I'm only 4 blocks away.  They are getting ready for Spring and General Conference.  There were beautiful flowers in bloom all around.  I'm thankful for daylight savings since we have more daylight in the evening now.

Nyles wanted a picture w/ our daffodil.  Rain drops on our tulips.

While Steve went to his mission reunion, Nyles, Carter and I watched Moana together.  Then while I went up to put Carter to bed, I came back and Nyles had fallen asleep.  I came back and watched the movie for a while longer, but he still didn't wake up.  So finally I just woke him up and took him up to bed.  He was one tired kid!

A picture from Steve's mission.  Steve is the top row on the left.  So cute!
His mission president in the front, President Middleton.

I'll make another post with some of the other adventures from March as well.
