On Saturday, August 10th we celebrated Nyles' first birthday! We sent out invitations to family to join w/ us at Wheeler Farm. Nyles loves animals so we figured it would be perfect! We also thought it would be fun to have it outside since it's Summer, plus it would be easier to setup/clean up.
Here is the invitation we sent out:

Come celebrate with us for Nyles' first birthday. Nyles loves animals so we're going to meet at Wheeler Farm. Please come for cake and ice cream then go feed the ducks (feed will be provided) and look at the other animals on the farm. Stay as long as you'd like. We'd love to see you there! :)

His cake at the park waiting to be eaten
Before we cut into the cake Nyles was really "enjoying" his new stuffed animals ;)
We then sang "Happy Birthday Day" to him and let him have a cupcake to eat. He REALLY likes chocolate cake.

The car set from Grandma/Grandpa McGrath
On Monday, August 12th we had Dave and Joann over for dinner to celebrate Nyles' actual birth "day." We just wanted to do something simple so we got pizza and then I made brownies to have w/ ice cream. Nyles loved spending time w/ Grandma and Grandpa McGrath and of course he liked the food. He opened his gifts from Grandma/Grandpa Hegerhorst and from Steve and I.
Cute bibs from Grandma Hegerhorst
More bibs, yeah!!!

His gifts: Car set from Grandma/Grandpa McGrath, Shape box from Aunt Diane, ABC Truck and Farm set from us (we also gave him a beach towel w/ his name on it), Tool Set from the Lake Family and Tonka truck from Jeff/Kim Family. Rose also gave him a cute Western shirt w/ brown pants and socks, Pauline/Chris gave the stuffed animals, and Great Grandma LuDean, Great Grandma VaLere and Monson's all gave him some money. Thanks everyone! We really appreciate your love and support for Nyles. He is so blessed to have so many wonderful family members. :)
Steve and I feel so truly blessed to have Nyles in our lives as well. We can't believe that a whole year has gone by already. It seemed only yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital. It's amazing how much they learn, grow and develop in only a year. We look back to how little he was and how we could fit him on one of our couch pillows and rock him to sleep (Steve's favorite trick). His binky looked so big in his mouth also. They grow up so quickly. Though it's not always an easy thing to care for him (when he's sick or cranky for instance), we are so incredible blessed and thankful to be his parents. He means the world to us and we are so thankful to have his sweet spirit in our lives. He lights up any room he's in and is such a sweet loving person. We can't wait for what this next year will bring us.
We love you Nyles William McGrath!
