First Cabin Trip In The "Spring"

Here's a quick recap of the last couple weeks in April.

Thursday, April 18th--We had a couple from our branch, our home teachers Anthony and Nicole Putich, sit at the house while went to the temple and did a session.  Nyles usually goes to sleep and doesn't wake up until early morning, but for some reason this time he woke up about 9pm and wouldn't go back to bed.  Luckily Nyles was ok w/ being held by Nicole until we got home and got him back to bed.  The session was really good nonetheless.  It's always a great experience at the temple.

Saturday, April 20th--Invited Rob over for dinner to say thanks for watching Nyles while we went to the temple.  Zach ended up coming over also.  Then while they were getting some lactose pills for Rob at the store Steve talked to his friend Dave who is a pharmacist and he ended up coming over also.  Luckily we made Hawaiian Haystacks which makes plenty, so we were fine.  They ended up hanging out for while just talking so I went to our bedroom and did laundry.

Sunday, April 21st--I had PEC and my RS Meeting in the morning.  Then after church we had a munch and mingle.  I came home for a few minutes then went back to the church for our home/visiting teaching meeting.  We had a lot of people moving out in the month of April so we had quite a few changes to make.  With everyone moving out in the branch we had quite a few callings to make as well.  Hopefully they will be filled in the next couple weeks.  That afternoon we went on a walk w/ Nyles around the neighborhood.

Tuesday, April 23rd--Since Steve doesn't have his Biology Lab anymore, we decided to go out.  So, after work we went over to a pizza place and had dinner w/ a couple that is moving out, Greg and Lisa Morris.  They have a little girl Brinley who is about 3 weeks younger than Nyles.  They are pretty much the exact same size and it's fun to see them interact.  We've got to know the Morris' pretty well over the past couple years that they've been in the branch so it's sad seeing them leave.  They bought a new house up in Woods Cross, so not that far I guess.  Hopefully we'll still be able to see them here and there.

Wednesday, April 24th--Steve's class got cancelled so we went to Flat Iron Mesa Park and pushed Nyles in the stroller.  The weather was beautiful. Nyles was getting tired so we went back and put him to bed then made dinner.

Thursday, April 25th--Steve went and bought a new fishing pole.  Zach and him went to the Jordan River and had to try it out.  Unfortunately they didn't catch anything.  Nyles had a great time though, can't you tell?  After I got home from work Steve had an HOA Board meeting so I worked on packing for the cabin.

Friday, April 26th--I had an extra hour of vacation time left so I requested to use it Friday and only have 1/2 hour lunch so I could get off by 3:30pm.  Once I got off I rode the train back home, finishing packing a few things, then we headed out.  We stopped in Heber to get a bite to eat then continued on.

We got up there first so we got a fire going and turned on all the heaters in the rooms.  It was still fairly cold up there and the lake was actually still frozen.  It was just barely starting to pull away from the shore.  The snow had actually melted though so we were able to drive into the cabin, which is great.  We also turned on the water in the cabin so it was nice to have running water again.  Dave, Joann, and Kim and her kids got up to the cabin shortly after we did.  Zach also came up that night a little later.  That night Nyles kept getting scared in the pack-n-play, so we ended up putting him in his carseat where he slept the rest of the night.

Saturday, April 27th--that morning Nyles woke up pretty early around 5:30am and didn't want to go back to bed.  So Steve decided to go w/ Zach and call a coyote.  They didn't find any, so they came back for breakfast a couple hours later.  I made crepes then they went out and fished.  They said it was pretty crowded on the lake, especially since there wasn't much open water, and didn't catch much.

We then left shortly after lunch.  We were pretty tired, so luckily Nyles went down for another nap once we got home so we laid down also.  My department at work sponsored us to go to "The Living Aquarium" that night so we hurried over to that.  It was fun to see the animals and people from work also.  Nyles seemed to really enjoy it too.

More Updates

Let me continue w/ my updates....

Sunday night the 31st my stomach really started to hurt and I didn't sleep too well. Monday morning I still didn’t feel well so I stayed home from work.  I ended up staying home from work through Thursday.  We’re not exactly sure what I had but we think it was either the stomach flu or some sort of food poisoning.  Apparently about half of us that were at the family get together got the same thing.  Many were throwing up on their way home the next day.  It was not fun, but I’m glad it’s over.  Nyles also wasn't feeling well but more of congestion in additoin to his teething soreness.  We took him the Dr but there was nothing more we could do but give him some ibuprofen.  We've been keeping the humidifer going as well at night plus putting baby rub on his chest.  Luckily he's doing better now also, at least not congested just teething still.

It’s crazy how quickly your health can change, so quickly too.  It definitely makes me appreciate those days that I’m feeling well.  Just to get out Steve decided to take Nyles and I to a little park.  It was nice to enjoy the sun for a while.  We walked around the park and looked at the ducks.

Thursday the 4th night my Presidency and I were going to get together to watch the General Relief Society Training, but since I wasn’t feeling well I stayed home and watched it.  We all ended up watching it on our own actually.  It was really good though.  Anyone can watch it; I’d encourage anyone to watch it.  It is really good.  There is also other trainings you can find there which are really informative.  There is also the General Training that went on which can be found here 

To keep Nyles entertained this past week, Steve took Nyles to Petco to look at the fish and animals.  Needless to say he was very entertained.  Steve said he was a little confused though when the parrot started to speak to him.

 Saturday we watched General Conference. Steve went up the canyon and fished in between conference.

Sunday we invited the couple we home teach over to watch conference w/ us and for breakfast.  We made crepes and watched the morning session together.  Conference was good, though it was a little more difficult listening in that Nyles needed a nap.  Thankfully we can rewatch/listen to them again.  They are already uploaded online and I’ve started listening to them on my phone.  We also went and took a walk for an hour or so around the neighborhood.  Nyles loves his walks.

If I haven’t mentioned this before, Steve is now on our HOA board for our condo complex.  He’s been keeping pretty busy w/ that.  Unfortunately we have a lot of renters right now so many of them don’t know the “rules” so we’ve had to warn people a lot.  Steve is in charge of the grounds of the complex.  Lately we’ve been having problems w/ people smoking too close to the complex (they have to be 25 feet away from any door/window according to the Utah Indoor Clean Air Act), and also there are several cars that are not up to date on their registration.  They are giving them about 30 days to fix it or their car will be towed.  It’s nice to finally get things going in the complex.  The HOA board hasn’t really done much since we’ve lived here.

Steve is also walking on May 3^rd at the University of Utah for his Bachelor’s Degree.  He actually graduated in December but they only do one actual walk ceremony.  They have a big on Thursday night but don’t actually read the students’ names so we’re going to the one on Friday morning at 9am where it’ll be just his college, the college of Health where they will actually read his name and get pictures.  We’ll probably go out to lunch after that.  You’re all welcome to come if you’d like, no tickets are required for the commencement.

Steve is just about done w/ his College Biology class.  His just finished his last lab class today, then he has two more weeks of his main class and then his final the first week of May.  He’s excited to get this class behind him.  He’ll probably keep taking just one class a semester to finish up his last few classes of prereqs before he can apply next year for PA School.

Last Thursday the 11^th we had our Stake RS Training.  It was the best I’ve been to yet.  They had each of the wards/branches submit questions and they answered them.  They categorized them into 5 main things and addressed all of them.  We’re having a lot of people move out again this month so we need to get new sisters in callings again.  My 2^nd counselor is one of them, so once it get someone called this will be my 4^th, 2^nd counselor in 2 ½ years.  Got to love the change!

On the 12^th Nyles turned eight months old.  He actually cut two teeth last week also, his bottom teeth.  They are so cute!  He’s doing better with solids and is really moving these days.  He rolls over on his belly then wiggles around in circles and up and down to get where he wants to be, to a certain extent.  He’s still wobbly sitting up, but with the amount of wiggling he’s doing on his belly we won’t be surprised if he starts crawling soon, yikes!  Even though he’s teething and can be cranking, we just can’t get enough of his cute little face. He’s such a joy to have in our family.

Last Saturday the 13^th Steve went ice fishing up at Strawberry w/ Zach, Dave Thomas, his dad and dad’s friend Duane Bates.  They actually caught a lot of fish though it was rather windy and cold.  They were able to drive into the cabin and warm up for a while before heading home.

Happy Easter!!!

I know I'm a little slow getting this up, but I figured better late than never.  Here's an update from the last week of March.

 

Tuesday, March 26th--We had our Relief Society Birthday Dinner.  We had a pretty good turnout.  Our theme was on Finding Faith through our Trials.  We had a potluck dinner of soup, salads and rolls.  We put the cake on the tables so they were ready whenever the sisters where so we could move on with our program.  We had three sisters talk about an experience they’ve had that strengthened their faith, and then I spoke for a few minutes and our Branch President.  It was a great meeting and I felt those who attended were strengthened and uplifted.

Since Friday was Good Friday I decided to take Thursday off as well so we could go up to my parents’ house for Easter.  Steve’s friend Zach Hannay wanted to come up to the farm to get away and shoot his guns, so he can as well.  We borrowed Steve’s parents’ car since it was a little bigger so we could have a little more room for a trip.  It was nice to have more room (Thanks Dave and Joann we really appreciated it!)  We got up there in a descent amount of time though we did have to stop a couple times to feed Nyles.  As soon as we got up there Steve and Zach were ready to go out and shoot something ;)  Nyles was glad to be out of the car and his car seat, as was I.

The next morning they went out and shot rabbits then went over to a neighbor’s field and shot Rockchucks.  Nyles and I went over and visited Grandma Hegerhorst for a while.  Daron and his family came over that night to visit.  We had dinner then played some games.  Pauline, Chris, Charlotte and Rose showed up later that evening.  They left after Chris got off work and Rose dropped off the girls to Jared.  Pauline surprised us w/ some exciting news.  She had Charlotte wearing a shirt which said “Big Sister Charlotte.”  She’s due end of October; we’re all really excited for her!

Saturday morning the boys went out hunting again.  I stayed home because Nyles needed to take a nap, but everyone else went to the Bruneau Elementary School for their Annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Barbara and Anna and their kids met everyone else at the school.  After they got back we visited a while until it was time for lunch.  We all met in my dad’s shop so we could be out of the wind.  We had a good turnout.  We then hid some candy around the house and shop/machinery and let the kids find it.

Afterwards we visited some more.  We went over to Grandma Hegerhorst’s to visit Corinne and Kris’ families.  We then went over to the Dairy.  After dinner Corinne and Diana came back over and we played a few games while the guys went out hunting again.  It was nice seeing everyone.

The next morning we were planning to go to church but I wasn’t feeling well and we wanted to get Zach back in time for his family dinner, so we decided to leave.  We actually made really good time.  Nyles did a lot better coming back home.  Steve’s family was also getting together so we hurried and unpacked and went over for an hour or so.
